I've been using "Fert-Til" bagged topsoil, from "Green-Gro-Products" sold at my local Menard's for new grass seedings, and I can report that it is pretty good stuff as my seedings are doing very well. I do mix some of my compost in with it but I think it will do the job all by itself. It's pretty cheap as well; $1.99 for a 3/4 cu.ft. bag. I screen out the junk but there's very little in each bag so it really isn't necessary. It's actually cheaper than delivered topsoil from a garden center, and you can carry it to where you want it. Garden centers just dump it and you have to cart it from there.

Whatever the Assoc put down in my yard after destroying 20 ft of sod hasn't sprouted 1 seedling. So I go get the good stuff, that's been down almost 3 weeks. wondering if they used toxic waste soil, even weeds have a hard time getting going
