Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, Donald Trump’s pick to be national security adviser, has on several occasions peddled conspiracy theories about Islamic Sharia law coming to the United States.

Fact-checking websites, including PolitiFact and Snopes, have labeled claims about Sharia law coming to the U.S. false. In 2015, the Houston Chronicle dubbed “rumors about Sharia courts” their hoax of the year.

GOP lawmakers push NCAA to ban trans athletes in women’s sports​

A group of GOP lawmakers pushed the NCAA in a Tuesday letter to “update” its “student-athlete participation policy to require that only biologically female students participate in women’s sports.”

“Amid the Biden—Harris administration’s unprecedented assault on Title IX, we write to urge the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to update your student-athlete participation policy to require that only biologically female students participate in women’s sports,” the letter, addressed to NCAA President Charlie Baker and signed by GOP senators including Sens. Marsha Blackburn (Tenn.), Tommy Tuberville (Ala.), Katie Britt (Ala.) and Joni Ernst (Iowa), reads.

NCAA president says there are ‘less than 10’ transgender athletes in college sports​

NCAA President Charlie Baker told a Senate panel there are fewer than 10 transgender athletes he is aware of who currently compete in college sports, pouring cold water on an issue Republicans have said is a nationwide problem and one that is increasingly fraught territory for Democrats.

“How many athletes are there in the U.S. in NCAA schools?” Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) asked Baker during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Tuesday on federal regulations around sports gambling.

“Five hundred and ten thousand,” said Baker, a former Republican governor of Massachusetts who has served since 2023 as president of the NCAA, which governs intercollegiate athletics at more than 1,000 colleges and universities across the country.

“How many transgender athletes are you aware of?” Durbin asked.

“Less than 10,” Baker said. He did not say whether that number includes transgender men.

Transgender inclusion in women’s sports has become a political lightning rod, dividing the nation and playing an increasingly central role in political campaigns.

To be clear, I am not in favor of transgender athletes competing outside of their given biological gender at birth. Because it makes a mockery of the principle of fair competition. Not because it threatens the fabric of American society.

As policymakers around the world debate whether minors should have access to transition-related medications, a study published Monday in the nation’s premier pediatric medical journal found that the drugs are rarely prescribed to youths.

Less than 0.1% of adolescents with private insurance in the United States are transgender or gender-diverse and are prescribed puberty blockers or gender-affirming hormones, according to the findings published in JAMA Pediatrics.

The research note, which analyzed the private insurance claims for more than 5.1 million young patients ages 8 to 17 from 2018 to 2022, also found that no transgender patients under 12 were prescribed gender-affirming hormones. Private insurers covered 65% of the country as of 2023, per the Census Bureau.

Maybe, just maybe, just as Sharia law was never really a threat to America, issues surrounding trans people have been blown out of proportion by Repubs for political expediency. Your thoughts?

Doesn't make any sense. There are not enough Sharia advocates per capita such a thing to happen. England on the other hand is a different story. London already has multiple geographic enclaves that live by Sharia law and basically ignore crown law. There are areas of London the police will not enter. That is a sign of a creeping takeover. They need to fix it.

If a Muslim man's wife is unfaithful to him for some reason ( she might have a good reason) in those areas he can put her to death without any repercussions from crown law. That's just wrong.
