According to the rumor mill....

The staffer was fired. The tape that surfaced was months old. However, what wasn't seen on tape was the Democratic congressman that was present and engaging in the sex. And that this tape was used in a blackmail scheme to keep the Democrat from voting in a particular way that he was known regularly to do. However the congressman didn't remember(who was holding what exactly over his head as there are many) and voted his usual and so the tape was released in part.

Staffers and interns are often used by EVERYONE to either gather insider trading information and/or as sex servants (later used for influence) or as just general personal labor. It's not often that they are there strictly for the job position that they are entitled.

Washington DC is a snake and shark pit....everyone has a vice that is exploited regularly.
