Reality sets in for Oregon governor

Ask SassyAss how many thousands of dollars worth of tax breaks she gets for her 6 kids, that she has publicly stated she has.

LOL Lame argument, toad. Any tax break we get for our children is far out weighed by the amount of taxes we pay a year. Hell we pay more in capital gains than you probably make in a year
Also the reasoning is that kids grow up to be tax payers (usually) and are very expensive to raise so it's in all our best interests to ease up the tax burden on parents.

So suddenly you've plucked out a rationale for giving my money to the people with kids.

lol.
I've told you many times that you're an idiot. And will continue when you say shit like that. I told you moments ago that a tax break isn't a gift from government but less money confiscated and you still can't grasp the concept.

A tax break is a handout to one group of people that the remainder have to pay for.
Liar. Taking less money isn't a handout. What a weird universe you occupy. You act like it's the government's money in the first place.

why not? everyone should be able to afford to feed their kids

By their own funds, or charity. Not government redistributing other people's money.

Subsidizing is using other peoples money to support those who can't or won't support themselves.

No way should tax dollars be used for that or to support a company.

If you need to feed your kids then you need to get off your dead ass and get a job or two.

very charitable of you ------JESUS would be proud

Jesus doesn't have anything to do with it and there are charities out there to assist any and all freeloaders.

If they need money then they need to earn it. Not have someone else's money handed to em to bankroll their lives.

Common Sense which you don't seem to have any of.

You need to move to a country where the government doesn't want to help the needy.
You need to move, period. Go to Cuba and be happy.

JESUS said to feed the hungry and poor. Not have the government confiscate the money from others.

So no good Christian should vote for any politician who supports the food stamp program?
No one need be a Christian to know that subsidizing sloth is wrong.

So why are Christian churches spending billions every year subsidizing 'sloth'?

Jesus said render unto Caesar what is Caesar's.

I doubt that he said it------but if he did-----I am not sure what he meant
by it. Biblical scholars do not know who wrote the book attributed to
"MARK". I suspect that whoever wrote it-------did not hear it from Jesus.
It is a POLITICAL STATEMENT------which encourages AQUIESCENCE
TO ROMAN AUTHORITY-------I doubt that a man who overturned the
money changers' tables in the temple court yard advocated kissing roman
ass. I do believe that he overturned the tables of the money changers----
you can have EITHER one OR the other

It's the government's money as soon as a tax assessment becomes law.

If you don't think selected tax breaks are unfair, why are you always harping on imposing a flat tax, for 'fairness'.

Or aren't you in that crowd?

In the UK there is the living wage which is $11.14 and the minimum wage which is $9.31.
The minimum wage is statutory and goes up each year with inflation. The living wage is voluntary and is calculated as what is needed to keep body and soul together. Neither figure is particularly inspiring.

Many companies now make a big noise that they are living wage employers as they see it being good for business. Oddly enough there is a reluctance to pay the living wage amongst football clubs who are the greediest businesses on this planet.

The reason that we have a minimum wage is that if we didnt then employers would pay less and leave society to pick up the tab. In a world where income disparity is widening the minimum wage needs to be higher.

Yes, but these people are saying charity promotes laziness, the lack of desire to improve, etc.

They condemn government 'charity' as damaging but praise Christian charity as the most wonderful thing in the world.

The fact that you government, like ours, is more than willing to take people's earning and give it to others is the reason employers CAN pay less.

did you all hear that? in the UK the LIVING wage is voluntary. well I'll be damned

their minimum is 9. 31.

That damn reality slaps the left in the face every time.

Oregon Governor Abandons $15+ Minimum Wage

Facing a barrage of criticism from business, and labor skepticism over threats of higher unemployment, Oregon Governor Kate Brown is scaling back her $15.52 minimum wage proposal.

A November report by the Manhattan Institute, “Counterproductive: The Employment and Income Effects of Raising America’s Minimum Wage to $12 and to $15 per Hour,” concludes that raising minimum wages is likely to result in adverse consequences that would lower total national income levels.

“The earnings gained for those who would keep their jobs would be outweighed by the earnings lost by those who would become jobless,” the report detailed. “As a result, the net income gains tend to be smaller or more negative when using the annual earnings approach than when using the wage approach.”

Facing concerns from the right and the left that her minimum wage proposal was an obvious job killer in Oregon, Gov. Brown blinked on January 28 and has scaled back her proposal to only a $.50 raise per hour statewide July increase, from $9.25 to $9.75-per-hour. The Portland metro area would see an increase in July 2017 to $11.25 an hour, with the rest of the state’s minimum wages rising to $10.25 an hour.

I love how someone who sits home gets her nose all out of joint if people are paid well enough to live.

again, wherever there is a decent minimum wage, businesses do better.

Because there's a difference between a neighbor mowing you lawn when you are hurt and the government sending lawn personnel over after taxing everybody for them.

Very true.

People argue that raising our minimum wage above 7.25 was going to cost millions of jobs. Places like Walmart would eliminate all sorts of jobs because they couldn't afford to pay a higher minimum wage.

In the meantime, ironically, a while back, Walmart announced they were raising their own 'minimum wage' to 9 bucks an hour.
