Real ID, Enhanced ID, ?! Another State money grab??

I heard this was passed shortly after 9-11 but it kept getting postponed. For whatever reason, this Trump administration wants us to do it. Is it because they are keeping track of all of us? This smells fishy. Republicans are always paranoid about the government keeping track of us but I have a feeling the Trump government wants us to get enhanced ID's for reasons we don't even know. Why would they finally decide to make us do this? Why now?

Anyways, they were making fun of stupid Americans who went and stood in lines around the block to get this enhanced ID but now the government is saying you will be able to fly if you don't have an enhanced ID. So all the idiots who stood in line did it for nothing. Plus, they should be embarrassed that they just jumped when the government asked them to. They didn't even ask how high. They just ran and got in line and waited hours.

The Real ID Act enforcement deadline, initially set for 2008, has been repeatedly postponed and now comes into effect on May 7, 2025. While some states were initially set to have a longer period to comply, the final date for full enforcement has been fixed. Beginning May 7, 2025, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and other federal agencies will no longer accept state-issued driver's licenses and identification cards that do not meet the security standards established by the Real ID Act.

I am against government control but we need some controls when we are allowing in terrorists, murderers, rapists, and gang members by the millions under Biden. My drivers license already has the star because I had to prove my ID 3 years ago when I moved to this state.

If there is some granny or gang members from some foreign country here illegally that can't get an ID and can't fly, what is the problem?

The whole thing is a waste of money, time and just plain stupid.
I need my government issued documents to prove who I am to get exactly the same government issued documents.
My birth certificate was lost, so I had to use my old license to get a birth certificate so I could use that to prove who I was to get a new license.

Meanwhile, millions of undocumented reside within the country while citizens are forced to prove who they are, while still getting their wages confiscated by the government issuing those documents.

Funny, the IRS knows exactly who the **** I am, and always has.

It is, but it requires every state to comply. It's been going on for years now, and it was bullshit then and it's bullshit now. I believe Florida brought its driver licenses into compliance a few years ago. It's not about $, it's about control and surveillance.
