The final tranche of commutations...making Biden, by far, the most prolific user of the Presidential commutation and pardon power in history:

President Joe Biden announced Friday that he was commuting the sentences of almost 2,500 people convicted of nonviolent drug offenses, using his final days in office on a flurry of clemency actions meant to nullify prison terms he deemed too harsh.

The recent round of clemency gives Biden the presidential record for most individual pardons and commutations issued. The Democrat said he is seeking to undo “disproportionately long sentences compared to the sentences they would receive today under current law, policy, and practice.”

“Today’s clemency action provides relief for individuals who received lengthy sentences based on discredited distinctions between crack and powder cocaine, as well as outdated sentencing enhancements for drug crimes,” Biden said in a statement. “This action is an important step toward righting historic wrongs, correcting sentencing disparities, and providing deserving individuals the opportunity to return to their families and communities after spending far too much time behind bars.”

Hours after the original announcement, the White House released the names of the 2,490 individuals receiving commuted sentences. Biden said more could yet be coming, promising to use the time before President-elect Donald Trump is inaugurated Monday to “continue to review additional commutations and pardons.”

Which Pedo Peter voted in favor of back in 1990s.

As did most Democrats and Republicans to show they were “tough on crime”

Makes sense
Long overdue
I agree. The vast majority of these people are Black, inner-city young men who were sentenced to decades in prison for a small amount of crack, while if you were White, and got caught with literal pounds of powder, you could get probation.

As the bulk of these people have already served years-long incarceration, again, in some cases decades--it seems appropriate to give them a second chance.

He is making up for his past sins while in government. I believe most people cwn be rehabilitated if we try. Some crimes are so heineous that you cannot forgive and justice requires punisment but many criminals can be rehabilitated. It is a real shame to punish someone excessively for actions committed when barely mentally mature and/or those of self addiction. Really what does imprisonijg them achieve?

A failure to punish drug pushers will make the "career" of peddling this poison look like easy money to the impressionable youths and lead to more of it.

Its a deterrent and example to others that becoming a pusher is a dead end, and it may well lead to a career of playing poker for cigarettes on the yard and keeping a good grip on the soap in the showers.

I assumed most of these were personal.addicts/users. Deterrents rarely work when the incentive is worth the risk,.especkally to the young who see glorification of crime. The brain works in such a manner that it will only see the potential reward, the risk doesn't computer. It's why even when murder was punished by death it didn't disappear.

I take it you are a "White Flighter" and won't have to worry about these convicted drug pushers peddling their wears in your neighborhood?
As a taxpayer supporting 2.5 million prisoners, I don’t see why I need to worry about nonviolent criminals

Drug crimes aren't nearly as "non violent" as you might think. If a drug pusher is owed money, he'll be as violent as needed to make sure the debtor settles up with him.

Democrats release criminals upon Americans as part of their attacks on America.

Once you realize democrats are traitors working with the WEF on a plot to intentionally collapse America and usher in the great reset, suddenly everything they support and do will make sense.

Democrats = traitors

Ok…..If a drug dealer becomes violent, prosecute him for THAT crime

That's difficult to do because of the no-snithching code, and its a lot easier just to deal with the dope pushing. Since all successful pushers use violence to collect, it isn't like any non-violent people are going to get locked up.
