Made me wonder where that expression came from. Anyone know without looking it up? I don't.

I am jealous! It is flooding out here. Has not done much all year, but rain. And rain more.
Had a pretty big thunderstorm a while ago.

I believe it was first written in an essay by Jonathan Swift but he may have gotten it from a similar verse in a poem from the 17th century. I think I read somewhere that it came from when they had heavy rains, the streets would turn into rivers and they'd see dead dogs and cats floating down the street... leading to the (tongue in cheek) assumption it had rained cats and dogs.
