Your logic eludes me, Joe.
Did I need to use smaller words.
If you believe that you should give money to the Church so the Church can do charitable things...
Then you believe that church serves an omnipotent God who allows the evils that require charity to start with.
A Greek Philosopher named Epicurus figured this out a long time ago, even before Jesus.
- If God is willing but unable to prevent evil, then he is not all-powerful.
- If God is able but not willing to prevent evil, then he is not all-good.
- If God is both willing and able to prevent evil, then why does evil exist?
- If God is unable and unwilling to prevent evil, why call him God?
So you believe in an omnipotent being who allows evil to exist so that the rest of us can show how "good" we are by giving up money we worked hard to earn, when he could just as easily snap his fingers and make these things go away.
And sorry, before you direct me to read the bible or some such nonsense, the Bible is full of stories of God doing truly horrible things because the Hebrews weren't giving him his props!
