Puerto Rico statehood

This will never fly. To pass a bill seeking to allow statehood constitutionally calls for a 2/3 majority in both the House and the Senate. It then goes to the states which also have to approve it by a 2/3rds majority.

No way this will ever happen.

Uh, where did you get that silly idea?

"New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new States shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or Parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress."

U,S, Constitution: ARTICLE IV, SECTION 3, CLAUSE 1

Republicans would never allow it..It would take away power from them.
Really? At a time when the country is already bankrupt, you think it would be a wise decision to bring in a state that one third of it's population is on welfare and entitlements huh? And before you say the U.S. taxpayers are already paying those bills, well they aren't covering many of the other costs to care for these people which I'm sure would include everything from infrastructure maintenance to Obamacare and everything in between. They would also get two senators and so many representatives whose salaries would be paid by the taxpayers and I'm guessing they would need more military help as well. But liberals don't care about any of those things, it's all about obtaining their votes which they'll win due to the fact most entitlement recipients vote democrat.

So basically we'll just be moving one more step closer to becoming just like Venezuela.
