Puerto Rican Hurricane Refugees- Don't Come Here! (Florida)

Right now, Tropical Storm Fiona is approaching Puerto Rico, and is expected to become a hurricane (category 1 or 2) at that time. 20 inches of rain is expected with floods, mudslides, washed out roads, power outages. All this points to the younger and more educated, and wealthier Puerto Ricans leaving the island, and coming to the United States.

As a resident of Florida, and veteran of many hurricanes here, I am advising Puerto Ricans that Florida is not the place to go, to escape the hurricane phenomenon. You could evacuate from Puerto Rico, and a week later, get hit with a strong damaging hurricane here in Florida. A better place to go is New York, New Jersey, or Massachusetts, where you are less likely to have more hurricane trouble, and also more apt to receive social services to help you get started.
PR aren’t refugees…they live in an American terroritory…they have citizenship…why would xiden move them?

They are refugees from a hurricane. Doesn't matter what their citizenship is. And who said anything about "xiden" ?

i agree they shouldn’t come to FL, xiden has dropped off non citizens there in bulk, and there isn’t much room for our fellow citizens…and liberals cities refuse to help

The definition that you posted states a person who is forced to leave their country. The only way a Puerto Rican could be considered a refugee is if they left the United States, as PR is a part of this country.

The fuck we can't! Send them to Delaware
You can't but you can delude yourself, which is apparently what you're doing. Puerto Ricans are American citizens, just like the people of St Thomas or Guam. They're just as legal as you are.

I'm waiting for some right wing Christian leader to say that Hurricane Ian is God's punishment on Florida for such a selfish and outright unChristian treatment of the refugees from Venezuela DeSantis dropped off at Martha's Vineyard.

Suddenly, DeSantis is all in favour of "socialism" and other forms of assistance from the federal government.
