Producer of aluminum explains the need for tariffs

Are the workers that are employed in that industry going to profit from tariffs. Of course in both cases. Any other strawmen hanging out in your otherwise empty head?
As long as they're making 2 to 3x the wage overseas plus full health insurance and 7 weeks paid vacation.

Average wage in Mexico is a bit over $800 a month. Burger flippers on the west coast make more than 3X that--next. Seven weeks paid vacation? LOL, good luck with that. Please link to the country that provides for that much paid annual leave.

We are strengthening the American manufacturing industry....and we need to.

If foe some reason the USA gets in a war (cold or hot).with China or Russia, domestic steel and aluminum is going to be essential....

Most electricity is transmitted by aluminum wrapped steel cable....that's what is on every power pole in America. Electric transformers on every power pole also are made of aluminum. Every airplane is made of aluminum. We even have aluminum block engines in vehicles.
There's no reason why we should not be producing our own aluminum.

If we recycle aluminum, the price per pound goes up due to decreased shipping for the scrap metal. Making recycling more affordable than ever.

Copper smelters also need to be brought back. That way Copper and brass and bronze can become affordable again....which relates instantly to our increased ship building once again. We need to be able to produce ships like we used to. Fishing, cargo, tankers, and pleasure boats. All are needed again. Our fleets are aging but we can't build new ones due to cheap imported metals.

That makes it welfare.
Wrong. Welfare is money that is doled out for nothing. These tariffs bring companies back that provide jobs which add to taxes that are paid on those wages and wages that are spent in communities and reduce the number of people on the public dole who are receiving welfare. SMFH. I cannot believe that you are this numb. Do you ever think beyond the end of your nose? Typical democrat.

Welfare is doling out money to people who haven’t earned it.

That’s what they want. Money they haven’t earned.

It’s welfare.

Well in that case, $800 to $4000 here seems right for the same wage. That's $1000 per week, really cheap pay in reality. Entry pay. $1000 per week is chump change.

I’d rather they have jobs not supported by corporate welfare.
So, you would rather depend on foreign nations for Aluminum and steel instead of producing it here?

They wont get any money from the government

If the company fails to produce steel they are paid nothing

If you want steel and aluminum produced here, no one is stopping you from buying it.

Go ahead and defend it all you want, it’s not going to stop being welfare.

Are they producing the best product at the best price?

We can produce here for a much much higher wage. No entry level pay. Not for that work. That job requires big wages. Big big wages. And no that won't increase prices.

You could call it protectionism, but its not welfare

Libs bastardize language and the meaning of words too much

Protectionism is welfare.

You’re giving money to people who haven’t earned it.

Do you mean as cheaply as it can be imported from overseas?

Probably not

Americans should not have to work in sweat shops at slave wages as you would have them do

Its not

As you have already conceded welfare is something unearned

Protectionism requires a lot of work from the industries being protected

Then they haven’t earned it.
Dont let your spastic hate for trump spill over onto American companies and American workers producing a product that the nation needs
