Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed a $55.9 billion state budget for fiscal year 2027, with tens of millions of dollars included for non-governmental organizations.

The governor placed his signature on the new spending plan in Chicago on Tuesday, calling it his eighth straight balanced budget.

The revenue plan imposes new taxes on digital advertising, digital assets, fantasy sports and prediction contests, places new limits on income tax carryover deductions, creates a social media platform fee and raises environmental filing fees and the retail tire tax.

Among many other NGO line items, the budget includes $4 million for Bright Star Community Outreach, $3.2 million for Ada S. McKinley Community Services, $2 million for Chicago Survivors and $1 million for the Puerto Rican Cultural Center, all of which are located in Chicago.

Well now, it seems that grift and fraud is alive and well in IL.

I'm sure none of that NGO money will not find it's way back to dem coffers.....No sir. 😐

Do you finally see how similar the two crime families are?

Has anyone looked at those organizations receiving this money actually do? It mean it is community based programs, ran by NON GOVERNMENT entities. Something, traditionally, Republicans have been very supportive. This is not sending birth control to Africa, this is helping underprivileged kids get into college, providing community support in traumatic events, job training, and parenting classes.

I'm sure they are as pure as the benevolent government, Mr. Smith.

You guys are so easily manipulated. First, Republicans started targeting NGO's operating in foreign countries. You know, America first. And I can get that. But now, you guys are demonizing domestic NGO's that provide vital services to some of our most vulnerable citizens.

Bring receipts and then we can talk about how pure they are. Until then STFU, Mr. Smith. :eusa_hand:

Bring receipts? WTF, do I look like a damn NGO accountant to you? It don't work that way asshole. You show me the corruption, the fraud. That is the way the system works. Maybe you would be more comfortable in Iran.

You guys are forgetting.

If there is a (D) after the person’s name, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THEM TO EVER DO ANYTHING WRONG….EVER,

If there is an (R) after their name, MAR A LAGO IS WORTH $13 MILLION AND IF THE OWNER CLAIMS IT IS WORTH MORE, THEY MUST GO TO PRISON.

Just wondering, when have republicans been very supportive of NGOs? Some examples would be nice.

You don't look like an NGO accountant, but you're the one who claims that they provide "vital services to some of our most vulnerable citizens". What's being asked for you to prove their value. For example, for Bright Star Community Outreach, their last 990 shows them bringing in $5,623,184 in revenue from contributions and grants. They spent $4,449,164 that same year in salaries, employee benefits, and other compensation. So, nearly 80% of their revenue paid the people who work there. That's a LOT of overhead. Add expenses, they're $777K in the red.

This is how politicians launder money to their friends.

15th post
You give me one example, and it's an NGO that, to be honest, who here has heard of it before now? I don't think I've heard a republican talk about it; much less be very supportive of it. BTW, since you addressed my first post, do you care to address post #13?
Comical that you haven't heard of it. Check it out on AI.

Prickster is lining the pockets of those who will line his pockets for his '28 run...............er, waddle.
