"A New York corrections officer is facing termination for posting a meme on Facebook mocking the Buffalo mass shooting victims. Greg Foster II has been suspended without pay after he posted a photograph of a Tops Friendly Markets store with the caption: “Clean up on aisle 3, no wait 4, also on 7, 9, 12 and 13.” -- Too soon? This should weed out some FB friends,” Foster wrote with a laughing emoji at the end of the sentence. At least seven people reacted with a laughing emoji before the post was removed. Screenshots of the post and the reactions have circulated on social media. Foster will be fired, and the state agency has launched an investigation to “identify and discipline any staff who may have engaged with the posting,” officials said in a series of tweets on Tuesday, May 17."
Everyone knows, there is a sort of toxic troll culture where the whole gist of it all is to try to offend and anger as many people as possible...the more depraved and disgusting you are, the more pats on the back you get from your equally cowardly friends and peers......and the kicker is that, you can always claim -- it's just a joke...why is everyone so triggered, right?? Everybody knows you are supposed to get away anything absent of consequences as long as you claim you are joking....and besides, before the post was removed by this leftist cancel culture -- it was getting likes and laughs -- which means other people thought it was funny, so what is the big deal? I don't see the victims of the shooting complaining, they're dead -- so why not poke fun at their expense, right??
But all jokes aside, should this guy had lost his job for just expressing his 1st amendment rights to offend?? I am sure when they guy decided to post this from his personal Facebook, with the desired intent to offend -- or as he said "weed out Facebook friends" -- he didn't think it would end up with him losing his job...did the Corrections Department overreact? And why is there this unspoken rule that you can't make fun of shooting victims?? If we could essentially mock the deaths of school children at Sandy Hook by claiming it was fake, calling the victims actors -- only for that to be said about every mass shooting from here on out -- what is the big deal??
