On the first point, when Social Security was first proposed, the average lifespan was 62 years. If you made it to 65, you were the exception, not the rule. Now (thanks in no small part to Social Security and Medicare), the average lifespan is up to 78.
The other part of this equation is that there aren't enough new workers to replace the retiring ones. It's why the labor participation rate has been steadily declining since 2001, and its decline increased in 2011- the year the first baby boomers started retiring. That and most Americans aren't having 5 kids like my parents did. They are happy if they stop at 2.
The solution to that one is simple enough. Reform immigration so that the people sneaking under the fence come in through the front door and become productive citizens. But people like you scream "EEEEK, BROWN PEOPLE" and freak out.
We didn't get the ACA we wanted; that's the problem. What we wanted was a Public Option and a Medicare Buy-in, both of which the Republicans shot down thanks to help from Joe Lieberman (D-Israel).
