Sadder pages have been written. Apparently you've never heard of LBJ.
"President Lyndon B. Johnson (LBJ) had a widely documented reputation for being exceptionally
crude, vulgar, and uncouth in both public and private settings. He was known for a range of behaviors intended to assert dominance and make others uncomfortable, which contrasted sharply with the polished image of his predecessor, John F. Kennedy.
Examples of LBJ's documented crudeness include:
- Conducting meetings from the bathroom He would frequently oblige aides and even cabinet members to continue conversations while he was sitting on the toilet.
- Public urination Johnson was known to urinate in semi-public places, such as in a congressional parking lot or on the side of the road, sometimes in front of staff or Secret Service agents, famously telling one agent, "That's all right, son, It's my prerogative".
- Exposing himself and boasting He referred to his penis as "Jumbo" and would occasionally display it to others, including female secretaries, or point to it on his desk and declare, "This is what got me where I am today". He also frequently boasted about his sexual prowess and numerous affairs.
- Intimidation tactics Known as "The Johnson Treatment," he would use his imposing 6'4" height to invade people's personal space, leaning in close to their faces, belching, and using a combination of flattery and intense browbeating to secure political compliance.
- Insensitive comments He made a point of making his female employees feel scrutinized, making comments about their weight and appearance, and explicitly stating he wanted to look at a "good, trim back end".
