I've been laughing at that for decades.
I remember the massive casualties that many were predicting in 1990. That thousands would be returning in body bags.
Total US deaths? 258. Only 154 battle deaths, the majority of the others were things like accidents.
The total number of deaths from 2001 to 2025 in the War on Terror? 7,050. That is in over two decades, where as in WWII there were single battles that saw three times as many killed in a couple of weeks.
And for those 7,050, around 2,000 were from non-combat once again.
Gotta love how predictable many are. And how they actually root to see members of the military dead.
Personally, I am dead sure that you propagated that "thousands would be returning in body bags" at the time.
If I remember your armchair general comments correctly - Ukraine already won the war in 2023 and retook Crimea. Since Russian defense lines would be utterly crushed by those superior Ukraine (Western MBT's) armored columns and capture Melitopol. !!
Anyway, I didn't come across a single BTC commander that voiced the opposite in view of Desertstorm at the time - since the US intel community was fed to death with inflated&hyped Israeli and Turkish intel.
At operation Iraqi freedom the opposite was the case - US commanders believed that Iraq would simply crumble without offering any serious ground combat- and that would be it. The factor of multiple armed militia factions then arising - never occurred to them. Even Israel was "baffled" at the idea of US ground forces occupying Iraq - they just wanted the USA to bomb the shit out of Iraq.
Whilst the German Army command clearly recognized this and convinced Chancellor Schroeder not to engage in Iraqi Freedom.
Also the coming fiasco in Afghanistan by then, was already foreseeable by the DSO Command.
The Iraq wars, are totally not comparable with now Iran getting the active on ground, sea & space support from China & Russia. Aka the Iraqi's never knew what and where to shot at - respectively which Iraqi location and when, is going to be attacked by the US via airstrikes and cruise-missiles. And the entire US war-logic is still based on the laughable propagated scenario - if a US carrier is sunk - a nuclear retaliation will follow.
No decent American want's to see dead GI's - that why people like you and their tunnel vision about US technical superiority cause dead US soldiers. - like "just-only" 7000 dead, who cares look at WWII.
BTW, is that YOU?
Probably the one thing I never seem to stop having to say is for people to do their research. I am so sick and tired of people who spout out nonsense because it is what they think is true, without ever bothering to check the facts at all.
