Sixty years ago, Commie was one of the worst insults you could level at someone, perhaps just behind Nazi in the political insult pecking order. For people who grew up in a post-Iron Curtain world, about third of the population the idea of Commie as an insult just doesn’t really stick. Communism as defined by Lenin, the practice of communism under Stalin and his successors and communism in Russia or China today is vastly different than the Commies of the 50's.

Communism is communism as far as I'm concerned, and anyone who agrees with any form of communism is as anti-American as it gets.

You would have to be as dumb as a rock to not see that communism in both Russia and China is a far cry from the commie days of the 1950's. The ideology is about the same but the application to governing and society has had made major changes. In China today, private business account for 84% of all enterprises. The Communist Run the goverment just as they always have but when it comes to business and personal freedoms, the government tends to stay out of the lives of the people and business as long they stay out of politics and government.

Lenin would be shocked that Russia, the nation that gave birth to communism can no longer be seen as a communist country. In Stalin's Russia there was only one party, the Communist's Party. The government owned essentially all the land and buildings. Free enterprise was nearly non-existent. Today, United Russia is largest party in Russia not the Communist Party (CPFR). 50 million individuals and business own property. Nearly half of the businesses in Russia is now either completely privately owned or in partnership with the government. The nation has evolved toward a parliamentary democracy.

That's because Reagan broke up the Soviet Union. Communism is just like any political movement. It changes. Look at what happened to the Democrat party. They went from Democrats to liberals, from liberals to progressive, from progressive to Democrat Socialists today, and they will keep going in that direction until they reach Communism. Once there, they will continue taking more freedoms from Americans and more laws against them until it is the USSR.

You must be blind or something. Don't you see how the other Communists in social media are conspiring to silence conservative talk? They got rid of Trump last week so he could no longer speak. Now they are using words like deprogramming Trump followers just like the book 1984, which actually used the term reprogramming. At Harvard, the commies are insisting that any Trump supporter have their degree removed that graduated from that school. Other commies are telling their fellow Communists that anybody associated with Donald Trump should not be able to work.

If Stalin could see what the Democrats are doing, he'd be jealous. Even he couldn't accomplish what they are doing today.

And using your own logic, Rump told lies that damaged us all. In fact, it murdered hundreds of thousands, brought us into an unscheduled and unwarranted recession nearing Depression. And then takes his lies and attempts to overthrown the United States of America. No President in the history of America has EVER accomplished that. Again, I never post something I don't have evidence of. After the Woodhead article came out, Dr. Fauci was interviewed about it. Dr. Fauci said that everything he and the President discussed about the viruse was relayed properly and timely to the American public. Furthermore, when Trump was doing daily press conferences, he allowed Drs Fauci and Birx to speak freely among others in the medical profession.

President Trump is not responsible for one death due to the pandemic. It killed millions across the globe. Even in Commie CA, they are the first state to hit 3 million deaths today, and they have been locked down for months, to the extreme that millions of citizens signed a petition to have him thrown out as Governor.

You talk about Trump and his lies, but you TDS people tell more lies than Trump ever has.

How did he have anything to do with it? He never once told people to get violent or force their way into the Capital. The people at the riot never even went to Trump's speech. They were already there. The FBI warned the Capital police about that happening the day before, but the police couldn't get the Mayor to bring in the Guard for assistance. The rioters came with shields, guns, and zip lock handcuffs indicating it was planned days before.

Saying Trump is responsible for Covid deaths is as stupid as saying DumBama was responsible for the over 200,000 Americans who died from the flu during his two terms. A US president cannot control the actions of people. A US President cannot control microorganisms. Thanks to President Trump, I am now going to get the vaccine which could save my life. Unlike some countries where they can force people to stay home for God knows how long, we are a free country and are able to decide what's right for ourselves.

I don't think you understand the differences between these ideologies which are just ideas that can never be fully implemented.
Socialism is the sharing of economic resources as allocated by a democratically-elected government. The very opposite of socialism is capitalism where all trade and industry is controlled by private owners with no government interference. Neither of these two ideologies is independently sustainable yet each does provide solutions for various social problems. Capitalism provides the incentive to build wealth and develop resources. Socialism gives us a method of distributing wealth to those that can not adequately create it. Today in all societies with a democratically elected goverment these two ideologies exist. The political makeup and the wealth of the nation determine the mix. Too much capitalism leads to social unrest and rebellion. Too much socialism leads to decrease wealth due to a decrease in the incentives to build wealth. The proper balance is the subject for endless debate.

Communism is an attempt make socialism work without capitalism by government ownership of property and resources. Russia and China proved it too be unsuccessful so they modified the system to allow a regulated form of capitalism. Both China and Russia hang on to communist ideas but grant far more personal freedom. Russia has become a parliamentary republic, sort of hyriid. China has adopted a regulated form of capitalism.

The US is in no danger of going communist, and probably never was. It would take a violent revolution and the abolishment of democrat elections to switch to communism. Socialism in America will continue to increase as it will in most of the world. The idea that socialism will lead to communism is a scare tactic used by republicans to defeat policies that would create a more equitable distribution of wealth.

However, what lead to the breakup of the USSR were the deterioration of conditions in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. Gorbachev’s decision to loosen the Soviet yoke on the countries of Eastern Europe created an independent, democratic momentum that led to the collapse of the Berlin Wall in November 1989, and then the overthrow of Communist rule throughout Eastern Europe.
