This 3 word statement is part of a quote I was giving to someone else, when I thought back to it.
Pre-Authorized Lies.
That is profound. And has application to a lot of things, but particularly in todays politics and culture.
So what is a "pre-authorized lie"? I think it means a lie that is accepted as truth by those who want it to be true.
A good example is "men make more money than women due to sexism".
That hasn't been true for a couple decades now at least. But those who still say it - are "pre-authorized" to keep saying it. And many around them will go along with that and absolutely accept it as being true, even though, deep down they know it isn't.
A pre authorized lie is any non-truth that is widely accepted as being true, even though it has been shown to be false over and over.
But those who still want it to be true, still get away with saying it.
