Zone1 Pope Leo calls for peace, gives Putin a pass and criticizes Trump. That is politics, not a call for peace.

Following the lead of his predecessor, Pope Leo is another Liberal Pontiff who slams Trump with his "delusion of omnipotence" statement. Yet the Pope of Peace seems to ignore the one million Russians and Ukrainians who have died in Putin's completely insane and baseless war. He has also slammed President Trump's illegal immigration actions as "inhuman".

It is very sad that such a powerful man who COULD take a true stance for world peace chooses to be just another Trump basher.

analogy:
The nurses telling the Doctor to stop operation on a cancer patient in the middle of the operation before it's complete. Then wondering why the Doctors have to keep continually operating to remove cancer from the body- "all these cancer operations it's madness".
No the madness is thinking it's ok to disrupt the operations, rooting for the cancer to remain another day, allowing the cancer to remain existing and allowing it to kill the whole body in doing so.

You have to love the Cult's immediate turnaround and hate on the Catholic Church.
It's just incredible to see what he has done to Christianity, and perhaps even religion in general. In a way, he has exposed it.

Christians who still follow him have a decision to make here. They're fused religion and politics. Those are two different things.

They're either serious about their religion, or they are not. Time to choose. Trump is forcing their hand.

There is over 50 armed conflicts right now. A dozen or so actual wars.
He couldnt call out all of them.
So, the Pope focuses on Trump threatening Iran instead and the fact that Trump enforces immigration policies instead?

When has Trump gunned down hundreds of thousands of protestors in America like Iran has done it's own people? Where is the condemnation from the Pope on how Islamic nations around the world embrace the oppression of women and gays and little girls whom Muslims marry at the age of 9 cuz Mohammad did that?

Instead, they focus on the politically correct target, which is Trump, someone that the Pope has zero fear of, just like the Left has zero fear of him as they protest him with impunity all around the US, while calling him Hitler. I thought he was Hitler after all, so where are the bodies of his rivals in mass graves? Hmmm?

In fact, where is the Pope's condemnation of Iran, yet we are led to believe by the Vatican that Trump is so much worse?

Hilarious.

What is funny is watching the Left ignore Presidents from actively embracing things like abortion, which the Catholic church says they view as mass genocide, but they are somehow better Christians than Trump who builds walls and gives horrible threats to Iran on social media and has the occasional picture of himself as Rocky or Jesus himself because Trump is Trump.

Hilarious.

Well, trump is front and center. After all, he tries to run the world.

I have no idea where you are going with this. The discussion is not about "the talks" which I do not support. As I posted in another thread you can't negotiate with vermin. It is about Pope Leo's statements that just like as predecessor wants to butt heads with Trump rather than address the corruption in his own back yard.
My points: Pope Leo was inaccurately quoted--and out of context. Second, President Trump seemed to be responding to inaccurate reports about what the Pope, the Vatican supposedly said. Go back to when this all started, and what you will see are reporters trying to rile both the Trump Administration and the Vatican--pit them against each other for the reporters/medias own purposes. Then both President Trump and Pope Leo are fed he said/he said these out-of-context, inaccurate contexts/narratives to which they responded. Both should know better.

The Vatican learned the hard way their only proper response is "world peace" and "talk it out". From this, President Trump is told, The Pope is against the war and therefore against you and all you are doing! And so triumphant reporters have the story they want: The Pope and the President of the United States are at odds. Democrats have their "backing": Pope Leo is against having a war with Iran! Impeach President Trump!

While the William Randolph Hearst quote of, "You furnish the pictures and I'll furnish the war" is likely an exaggeration, yellow journalism has always been a reality. The first question we were asked in an early journalism class was, "What is the primary purpose of the news media?" Although there were several very good responses, we were told the correct one: The news media's primary purpose is to make money. Which led into the discussion of Randolph's suppose statement and yellow journalism. The first thing we learned as students is not to trust the media. Go to the primary source of what had been precisely meant and that original context. The media will--and does--twist things to attract readers--and the truth and its common sense isn't much of an attraction. No attraction, no readers, no money. So how about a little twist...

Where you and I likely agree is that popes and the Vatican need to keep their distance from national politics. The Pope, in the way of Jesus, needs to talk to directly to people and the lives of people--not to their nations.

It is the media, not Catholics, who attempt to fuse religion and politics. Our religion/faith focuses on how to live our individual lives among the people we are in immediate and every day contact with. We are called to live peacefully and bring peace into the lives of those with whom we interact. Guess what: Very few have interpersonal relationships with any person in Iran.

Catholics and all people of any denomination or faith have differing opinions about our nation's position with Iran or any other country. Is the peaceful position is to turn our country over to Iran and do whatever Iran commands. That way there is no war, only peace as we joyfully accept Iran's rule. They want billions from us as they received in the past? We'll send trillions! That's the kind of life we wish to bequeath our own descendants. Those of us who are Christians or Jews? Of course, we want our children and descendants to follow our lead and immediately convert to the Islam religion. What else shall we peacefully do?

I will say that Putin botched this whole mess. He should have finsihed Ukraine off fast. But Putin can't be blamed using self-defense to stop the USA and NATO from encircling Russia and destroying it.

Putin underscores the truism that just because you are a good dictator, it does not mean you are a good military general.

Amazing the lengths people will go to to justify this BS war.
This post was written by a clown. Turn the country over to Iran?

I assume you are being sarcastic.

This is directly lifted from Pope Leo's original prayer for peace 3 days ago:

"It is here that we find a bulwark against that delusion of omnipotence that surrounds us and is becoming increasingly unpredictable and aggressive."

This is an obvious swipe at President Trump because there is nothing increasingly unpredictable about Putin or any other leaders behind other wars around the world. Secondly, he could have immediately diffused the situation by saying "I am against all war and all violence whether it is occurring in Russia, Ukraine, Iran, Yemen anywhere." He did not do that and chose to be confrontational with President Trump.

We will have to agree to disagree on Pope Leo.

The cancer analogy with the Iranian Regime is spot on as I have used it myself. You can't negotiate with cancer it must be removed.
