So, I'm gonna try again with a hypothetical. I know a lot of you struggle with those but just remember that it's an imagined scenario. In the following, I'm not saying Putin is going to attack Americans. I'm merely asking how you'd react if he did. The idea is to explore the principles of an argument from a different perspective.

Let's say there were groups of Americans traveling to Europe to help Ukraine fend off the Russians.

And let's say Putin caught wind of this - declared these groups to be terrorists, and ordered his ships to shoot down the planes, or sink the boats or whatever, that these groups were using to get to Ukraine, as soon as they left US territory.

How would that sit with you? He didn't declare war on the US, didn't present evidence to the UN or go through any formal process - just killed the suspected combatants in international waters.

I'm sure most of you will insist "it's different when we do it", but I don't really see how.
