Poll: Democrats Now Trusted More Than Republicans on Economy

I’m not predicting anything. I’m good either way.

I think you’re just going to mindlessly cheer on your guy regardless of what he does to the economy.
I'm going to cheer his policies because they make sense. Are you going to admit that Trump's economic policies were good if the economy is cranking by the end of the summer?

This was expected but came sooner than later.

Trump is upsetting the voters with increasing the cost of living. "For the first time in several years, Americans now place greater trust in the Democratic Party over Republicans when it comes to managing the economy, according to new polling data."

A recent Morning Consult survey finds that 46% of respondents believe Democrats are doing a better job on the economy, while 43% side with Republicans. Eleven percent reported no opinion. This marks the first such shift in favor of Democrats since May 2021, per the polling firm.

It is only going to be a short period of time before the Dems will be way over 50%.

Why the end of summer? What exactly counts as “cranking”?

Seems too subjective for me. Not my cup of tea.

Would you be willing to say that Trump’s economic policies were bad if the opposite is true?

Anybody will. But... they won't. Will you admit that then?
Of course I will. My views are based on common sense. If the tariffs don't work? I'll be the first one to say it was a bad move. Quite frankly? I don't see how China can do anything OTHER than give in to Trump! Not doing so is going to send their already fragile economy into a tail spin. The other 70 countries asking to renegotiate their trade deals with us is a clear sign that the threat of tariffs IS working! So what do you base your opinion that Trump will fail?

That's my estimate of how long China's communist leaders will be able to ignore the millions of Chinese workers that will be out of work because of the tariffs. They'll have people in the streets calling for their heads if they don't get a deal with Trump and they know it. People that are starving to death don't care about anything but where their next meal will be coming from.

He's backing off on China. He backed down from Powell.

Yes, they were bad moves.

How is Trump backing off on China? He increased the tariffs on China while he gave dozens of other countries 90 days to rework their trade deals with the US. He's put China in a box. Foreign companies are moving out of China. Millions of Chinese are being laid off.

He wants Powell to cut interest rates. Powell is refusing. The Fed is independent. Trump will continue to call for lower interest rates and at some point Powell will agree. There is seldom total agreement between Presidents and Fed Chairmen over Fed policies.

Trump is all over the map.

But I think like so many others, that we are going into a recession if he does not reverse course.
