Yes, the usual culprits--Collins, Murkowski and McConnell--all opposed the defunding but they are all old guard globalist NWO Republicans. So I think JD Vance had to break the tie to pass the legislation but it needed to be done.

Any of NPR or PBS's most popular programming will no doubt continue on its own merits, anything that can't continue due to the defunding probably sucked anyway. And anything actually good that USAID was accomplishing--by some estimates that would be less than 10% of what they were spending--can easily be handed and continued within the State Department.

Any of us still able to think rationally and critically know that you can't make an omelet without breaking some eggs. No matter WHAT Congress does in pretty much anything, somebody's ox will be gored.

But we can't continue to fund anything and everything that somebody likes or that has a noble sounding title on it but doesn't do what the noble sounding title expresses, or that has outlived it usefulness, or is unnecessarily repetitious and redundant, or is counter productive to an agenda to make America great again. To eliminate such indefensible spending falls within the promises made, promises kept agenda for Trump and Co. and the GOP and is justified as one more helpful policy to get our budget and debt under control.
