<~~~~~~~~~~>We already have multiple unused bases in Greenland, and we have always had access to their resources. What did he gain that we didn't already have?
The largest base, Thule Air Base (now Pituffik Space Base), alone housed around 6,000 to 10,000 personnel at the height of the Cold War.
Withdrawal Period: The major reduction of U.S. forces began after the end of the Cold War. While many smaller sites were abandoned throughout the Cold War (such as the Camp Century ice site in 1966), the large-scale reduction occurred after 1990.
By the early 2000s, almost all sites had been abandoned, leaving only one operational base (Pituffik) with approximately 150–200 personnel today.
