I once watched an interview with a high ranking pentagon in general where he explained why we spend so much. He mentioned that being number one is very expensive.. being number one means you have to be ready to take on number two and number three should they decide to team up. I thought that was a reasonable explanation. Like he said do the math it's pretty simple.

Part of it could be that we have to protect countries that choose to build more parks swing sets than rather than buying military equipment to defend themselves. Some country must be pragmatic and not idealistic or the bad players would take over the world.

I think diversity training and policies is critical to our military.

Like it or not, our military is no longer lilly white males.

Soldiers entering our military are expected to live with blacks, Hispanics, women, gays, non-Christian’s…..
They need to form cohesive fighting units.
They need to learn to work with people of different backgrounds and cultures
