Pete Hegseth Says Air Force Restoring Tuskegee Airmen Videos Amid Backlash

Like the tax cuts for people like Elon Musk.
As opposed to giving tax cuts to people who actually need them to put food on the table, and gasoline in their cars.
Why do you preach discrimination?

Colin Powell acknowledges he benefited from EEO and Affirmative Action
Many people did. However, during that time period, discrimination was a huge problem. Now, not so much.

When I joined the Navy in 1978, I attended Electronics Technician "A" school at Great Lakes. There were literally hundreds of students enrolled in the classes. Guess how many were black? One. He was my roommate in the barracks.

When I was assigned to my first ship as an officer, there were 26 officers assigned. Guess how many were black? Zero. We had one Hispanic officer, a Puerto Rican from NYC. WE shared a stateroom. Not a single black officer was assigned during my almost 3 years on board.

My first division in 1984 was Fire Control Technicians, we had about 25 men assigned. Guess how many were black? Zero.

My next division was Auxiliary Engineering consisting of about 10 machinist's mates and enginemen. Guess how many were black? we normally had about 3 and the Leading Patty Officer was an Engineman 1st Class who was black.

Contrast those stats with my daughter's command in the Army. Her unit was extremely undermanned and was at about half strength when she took over. She had a white male XO and two female platoon leaders, one of which was Hispanic. The enlisted crew of quartermasters was a white First sergeant, and a crew that was almost half-and half Black, Hispanic, with some soldiers being both. She had very few white soldiers and she had about 50/50 male female.

In my day, had my daughter joined the Navy, she would not have been assigned to a combatant command. Today the CNO is female.
In my son's time with the Old Guard, there were no female tomb guards, nor members of the US Army Drill Team with him. Today there are numerous Tomb Guards.

Things changed.

Unit cohesiveness is essential to combat readiness

Ignoring the diversity of todays military does not make a stronger fighting force
They also have to learn about other world cultures or they could find themselves in a pickle when off base.

Can USMB conservatives explain how todays military can survive without DEI?

Our military is comprised of women, blacks, Hispanics, gays, Muslims
You don’t think they need policies to ensure all are treated fairly?
That's not DEI. Policy is well established that the military does not discriminate. Why do we need people to watch over some fake program that has proven a failure?

I hope today that the military has more blacks who will enter combat. When I was in the Army, they were our major problem with discipline. What have blacks done to encourage them to practice Military discipline?

You all might think that when I was in the Army, we had excellent blacks in the command. But we had to place armed guards around buildings due to black violence in 1962-1964.

What failed?
How do you differentiate where DEI ends and discrimination begins

Because the military has a long, long history of favoring white male Christians and excluding gays

But you can't explain why??? My Army unit in Germany never asked if one is a homosexual and this was circa 1962-64. Blacks were a serious discipline problem and due to that, armed guards guarded buildings in Germany due to blacks.

Who is ignoring it? we are no longer promoting it, because it doesn't matter.
Many soldiers are coming in to service never having interacted with blacks, Hispanics, gays, Muslims
They also come in with preconceived biases

DEI is still critical

I was in our army from Feb 62 till the end of Jan 64. In Basic and AIT we had blacks em. We had no black officers. In Germany I first got the job of driving the Company Commander. He was the only black officer in our Battalion. But he looked white to most of us. I got my job changed to Company Clerk when the previous company clerk got accused of talking bad about blacks. My CO wanted him fired. Did we have many blacks as EM? Well no we did not. I recall about 4 or 5 of them in our entire Battalion. We had about 2000 serving in that army in Germany.
