Okay so then basically if a guy wants to sell his gun to me instead of me going over and buying it we would do a proper transfer. Not unreasonable. What else though? That will take care of me, but then I am not buying guns for criminal reasons. Bad guys won’t ever transfer a firearm lawfully. So they promos “universal background checks” will curb gun violence.

In other parts of the world where guns are banned it’s not the illegality of owning guns that keeps them from being used. It’s the very harsh penalty they pay for commuting gun crimes. Take a look at what happens to a guy in any other country if they commit armed robbery with a fire arm, then look at what happens here. Instead of imposing another $25.00 transfer fee on us because thugs in Chicago can’t go a weekend without shooting each other, why don’t we instead punish the criminals who commit the crimes?

How many previously owned guns are sold by responsible gun owners? I don't know either, but a reasonable guess would be at least half or more. Criminals don't buy from dealers because they know they would never pass a background check. Individual sales would put at least half or more of the guns now available to crooks out of reach because responsible gun owners would follow the law and perform the same background checks as required by licensed gun dealers. Of course it wouldn't be 100% effective, but the small cost of the check wouldn't effect the sales price much, and it hurts nothing. There is no national gun registry, and no reason to start one just because more checks are done. How could a reasonable person oppose them?. .
