New covid cases do not equal new deaths hun.......more specifically new covid cases do not equal new omicron deaths hun. Covid infection/death from OTHER strains before omicron were already trending up in South africa--especially among the starving uncared for children. The other strains have repeatedly in killed in a 2 month or so cycle---slow down and then hit in another wave hence why 1 week of cases taken out of context is meaningless as is your article. The deaths are not necessarily omicron and more specifically UNlikely to be so since 1) the timing isn't right and 2) there isn't or wasn't at the time of any omicron strain listed deaths

Come down silly, it takes 1-2 weeks for infections (73% of new infections past few days in US are Omnicron) to turn into hospitalizations and 3-4 weeks to turn into deaths.

It's possible to be right for wrong reasons (even a broken clock can do that twice a day), but you are counting your chickens well before they hatched.
