Part of Me Hates to Admit This But ...

I'm enjoying the Trump Presidency thus far. I know it's only three days in, but there seems to be a real vibe shift over the past few months. For the better. This seems really different than 2017.

It's helped that as I've dug further, I'm beginning to realize just how crazy the left has become. I've always known the far left was crazy, but I've underestimated just how batshit crazy they are. They've dialed the crazy up to 11.

I still don't like the man. I still think he's unfit to be President. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't enjoying this.

I've been pleased with some of his actions in the first few days, but he'd be taken more seriously if he'd cut out the "Gulf of America" and "we're taking back the canal" bullshit.
Well thank you sir. Don't worry too much about Panama as his rhetoric is usually intended to be much more a negotiating tool than intended policy.

But he is absolutely correct that we funded and built the Canal as a benefit to all shipping but mostly ours as well as being of critical military use. And of late, the Chinese have had much increased management of the Canal and are bilking American ships with exorbitant fees. And he will not permit China to take over or control the Canal as that would absolutely not be in America's best interests and could put us in serious military jeopardy.

I agree re the Gulf of America as I see no point to that and a real hassle given it would requiring redrawing all the maps, etc. I bridle a bit every time it is mentioned.

But there is a part of me that also sees this as possibly part of his strategy and a negotiating tool with Mexico to get Mexico's full cooperation in shutting down the migrant caravans.

Toro, some Trumper hacked your account!

Did you hit your head?

Are the Proud Boys holding you hostage and making you post this?

We can call 9-1-1 for you.

Pray for Toro! ;)

I've never cared for Trump before he entered politics either.

But like you say, when you compare him to the DNC and the Rhino never Trumpers, you like him a lot more all of a sudden.

It's like magic!!

I still don't like him.

But I like what he's doing.

Good to see some admit that the contrast between Joe the idiot Biden and Trump is HUGE! Trump is not perfect, hell a show of hands who's perfect? Yeah nobody. So you weigh the good with the bad. But you cannot deny that the country is feeling far more hopeful with Trump in charge than when idiot Joe Biden was sleeping on the job only days ago.

One of the things that has become evident is just how fed up people are. People are telling me now how relieved that much of this leftist nonsense is on its way out. They weren't saying that a few months ago.
This was a repudiation of much of what the Left has been pushing. One minute they're telling the working and middle class how much they care, the next minute they're destroying one of their businesses because it won't bake a fucking cake or screaming TOXIC MASCULINITY at them.

And who defends them? The GQP. These folks can't be blamed. They're sick of it. And they don't pay close attention to the minutae like many of us do.

I don't see how anyone could underestimate the absolute shit show the left has been the last decade. They've been beating Americans in the face with their big shit stick quite openly, for the most part.

They didn't give a shit who knew, till now.

The world that I live in doesn't see much of these things. They're tangential almost hypothetical. My world is financial and economics, populated by highly educated people with advanced degrees in business and finance. We're not seeing day-to-day much of what you're seeing. The only thing I've seen is ESG nonsense, that I've publicly spoken out about IRL, and we've been buying assets like coal powered plants and oil fields others are selling for non economic reasons. DEI isn't really a thing here, and we're pretty immune to all the culture war stuff.

A lot of what I heard about the far left came from sources I didn't trust. Sorry, much of the right wing is full of shit too! What got me were two things, the left's reaction to Oct 7 and immigration. I was disgusted by the far left's reaction to the slaughter of Israelis. I didn't realize how awful our education system had become. In my world of numbers and equations, we don't see that stuff. As for immigration, I've posted here before about my handicapped brother who has lived on the street and can no longer live on his own because Trudeau's insane immigration policies have led to skyrocketing rents.

But the tipping point recently has been guys whom I respect like Marc Andreeson coming out and saying that "no this shit was real and it was bad." So I started thinking that if this shit really is true, what else have I been ignoring or dismissing simply because I didn't trust the source?

They're not scared to tell the truth anymore.

Under the Biden regime, you could lose your job, get arrested, and have your entire livelihood destroyed for saying that vaccinated people can still get covid, or for saying that men shouldn't be in locker rooms with little girls.

You can instantly tell how great a job Trump is doing by watching the libtards meltdown.

What leftist policies have you been so disgusted w/in recent years OP?

Of all the claptrap I've seen in this thread so far, no actual policy positions have been proffered.

It's all vibes, the OP literally states "vibe shift" in his OP.

They were afraid of being cancelled

No doubt. I've always been of the opinion that he is a narcissistic clown, but he gets things done that are good for the country. Split on the two you mention though. I agree that it is the Gulf of Mexico, but I think the US should control the canal, China has no business in this hemisphere in addition to the fact that the US built, bought and paid for that canal.
