Paramount Agrees to pay Trump $16 million in CBS 60 Minutes lawsuit

Oh no, you've found someone who isn't a Republican or a Democrat. How can you possibly understand. Lucky for you I'm not gay or transgender or even bisexual.

It's impossible to not have manipulation of elections, unless you take ALL MONEY out, and you force the candidates to give honest interviews and be forced to answer questions properly.

All these ads on TV, outside people's homes, on billboards, they're all manipulation.

No, the media is no "90% on the left wing side", what are you talking about.

Fox News (which is more entertainment than news) has most of the right wing, but Fox News gets better ratings because of this. Why? Why do right wingers either not bother to watch news programs or all stick to the same tired nonsense? I don't know, but the do.

The Five had 4.5 million viewers
Next best was The Rachel Maddow Show with less than 2 million viewers.

Just because left wingers have more channels, doesn't mean their combined weight is more than Fox News.

I doubt most people think Trump is a Nazi, seeing how Nazism was something very specific. But a lot of them do think that Trump doesn't care about democracy, doesn't care about anything other than himself. Problem is, you don't need to media to tell you this, it's pretty obvious from the way he acts.
laid it all out........so you are in an indy, that's good
I never asked if you are gay or whatever......good to know?

most of the media is left but they are losing their ass to conservative news, this is not news but fact

you can never take the money out of politics......you are in a dream world, that is how it all works

we can't do a damn thing about it so why worry?

maddow is some butch lesbian flake, shocked she gets paid 20M a year to spit garbage.......but she does for now

doubt? well the left media paints trump as a nazi constantly and their base eats it up

I don't see trump acting in any way to not make the USA better

I am sure you have a long list as and indy as why you don't see that as the case

but..but.....biden did what to make us better?

You see the media as "losing" or whatever? That's ridiculous. They're all making loads of money and manipulating. However manipulation happens on both sides and it's ridiculous there are only two sides.

Well, you could take the money out of politics.

One US Senate race cost more than the entire German federal election. Why? Because a senate seat can be won by small margins and can make a HUGE difference. Had the Dems won ONE Senate seat, Trump Hobin Roob bill would never have passed.

In Germany it doesn't work like that because they have PR.

Trump is literally destroying democracy. But you don't see it, so.... keep your head underground.

Did Biden make the US better? No, no president ever does. They either have a steady ship, or they mess things up. Like Dubya did with two huge expensive wars for cheaper oil.

looks like you contradict yourself
we are not Germany, not sure why you need that angle and Germany is smaller than NY, easier to contain
hobin robb, are you drunk? eh? gives seniors a huge tax break...don't they deserve it?
it also keeps the 2017 tax break in effect......and that does not help you at all?.......bullshit

how again is trump destroying democracy? giving money the government holds back to it's citizens is hardly destroying, that is how it's supposed to work!

deporting illegals and criminals, safer streets......how is that a bad thing?

you are running out of straws to grab.........just enjoy the ride, save money or make money, your choice, that is the America

Well done, no the US is not Germany.
Germany has an election with 60 million voters, in this year's federal election.

54 million voted Republican and 55 million voted Democrat in last year's Senate election. That is obvious less than the 74 million votes the Republicans got in the House election and 70 million the Democrats got.

However it doesn't matter.

Germany's election had 60 million voters and cost less than one Senate seat, Cruz v. Allred was $165 million. The German federal election in 2017 was $109 million. The whole election. Electing 709 members of the Bundestag, the Chancellor, the whole shebang.

Cruz's race had about 11 million voters, 1/6th the size of Germany's election and managed to elect one person.

You say Germany is "easier to contain". I have no idea what that even means. The reason why their election costs less is because they have Proportional Representation. Political parties run on platforms, you have somewhere around 6 viable parties at a German election because they have a 5% cut off (meaning you need more than 5% to get seats) (in Denmark they have a 2% cut off and get about 10 viable parties).

There's no point in spending loads of money. A) your party stands for something unlike in the US where, for the most part, people are conning the electorate into thinking you're a nice guy and the other guy is an a-hole. B) that money won't make much of a difference. You get an extra seat by getting more votes. About 62,000 votes per seat in 2017. So, to move up you need to gain about that many votes. In Cruz's case he won by about 900,000 votes, had 460,000 people switched, he'd have lost. Not a huge margin, not insignificant, but he won clearly. However they spent a lot of money to get those few votes to tip the balance. Just for one seat.

Do you really think Trump is giving all this money to you? Nonsense, he's giving it to rich people. He's increasing the debt massively so he can enrich himself and other rich people. Some people might get a little, just to make them think they've won something. But at the end of the day, the US is going to suffer. But you ignore it, and then when it hits, you'll blame a Democrat for it. I've been on this forum long enough to see how this goes.

You seem to be playing games, rather than actually having an adult conversation. I'm not in the mood for games.

Can't figure out what point you are trying to make or spend so much effort doing so.

our system was not about money but that changed at some point, we can't change it.

you can ***** and moan all you like but you get 1 vote.

unless you are rich enough to run and win you are blowing kisses in the wind.
even then you are one voice, you grease hands, get rich and work for your team
or you are kicked out of your team

It really is that simply in a huge nut shell and as of 2025 we are nobody, we can't change anything so stop worrying so much, it's going to put in you into the grave early

Sometimes, news outlets are biased and mislead the world. Well, it's human nature. :)

Fox.webp

👉 Fox News has faced multiple lawsuits, including high-profile defamation cases. Most notably, Fox News and its parent company Fox Corp. settled a major defamation lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems for $787 million in 2023. Dominion sued Fox News over false claims aired by the network that Dominion's voting machines were rigged to steal the 2020 presidential election. Internal Fox communications revealed that executives knew the claims were false but continued to broadcast them to retain viewers. The settlement was one of the largest defamation payouts in U.S. media history19.

Additionally, in 2025, California Governor Gavin Newsom filed a defamation lawsuit against Fox News, seeking $787 million in damages. The suit alleges Fox News falsely claimed Newsom lied about a phone call with former President Trump. This case follows a pattern of Fox being sued over allegedly false or misleading statements aired on its programs357.

So, I show you a system where the people get to make a difference, and you just reject it without even understanding it, and then say "we don't make a difference, nothing we can do".

I guess with that attitude, no, the US is heading towards the abyss.

Since when has editing TV been ILLEGAL?

So?

Are you suggesting this didn't happen on Fox "News" and other such media outlets?

Is it illegal to make someone look better by editing?

This is what Trump's lawsuit stated -

His lawsuit alleged the “60 Minutes” edits amounted to election interference — “malicious, deceptive, and substantial news distortion calculated to confuse, deceive, and mislead the public,” in the suit’s words.

hold up, what system that people make a difference? is this a socialist slant.....everybody chips in and is equal?

most people don't think their vote really matters and make a difference.

as carlin said.......garbage in........garbage out and it has not changed in a very long time

you get what you voted for

I can't be bothered. If this is the sort of reply you're going to come up with, it's not worth it.

You haven't even tried to understand what I'm talking about.

Bye

Paramount has agreed to pay Trump $16 million to settle the lawsuit Trump filed against them over an edited interview on 60 Minutes during last year's election cycle. The interview in question involved Kamala Harris, and the lawsuit claimed that it was maliciously and deceptively edited to make her appear smarter and more competent in her Oct 7, 2024 interview.

The country needs much stronger liable laws to go after the fringers and liars.

Businesses, the press, politicians, DOJ, all of them. Threaten, intimidate and go after them until they cave, AND until their PEERS know about it, and are suitably intimidated, too. Directly from the Oval Office, with all the power of the presidency behind you.

Textbook.

And yet not a peep when Biden and Democrats were twisting the law into a pretzel to go after Trump. Funny stuff.

You mean holding him accountable for his crimes?

You clowns impeached Clinton over lying about a blow job after promoting some trailer trash's fake sexual harassment suit.

you really don't get to complain about Trump being mashed by the law.

And yet not a peep when Biden and Democrats were twisting the law into a pretzel to go after Trump. Funny stuff.
Last time I checked, you didn’t need to twist any laws to prosecute people who are hiding classified government documents in their basement.

fine, if you can't relay what you are trying to get across that is your communication failure
no need to read through hoops, it's exhausting

Wow, they feel they have to give into a case which is pretty clear cut that Trump is wrong. Trump sued them basically to get money out of them knowing he's wrong, and still won because he put pressure on them telling them "pay you bribe, or else".

Did they not edit the interview to male harris look better? Did they not rearrange her answer to make her sound better than she did?

So?

Are you suggesting this didn't happen on Fox "News" and other such media outlets?

Is it illegal to make someone look better by editing?

Do you have evidence that fox edited his interviews to rearrange his answer to put them with questions that were not the question they asked, to make him appear to be giving better answers than he did?

If you do, then harris should sue fox news
