Contrary to popular belief, there never has been a place named “Palestine” founded by “Palestinians”. Never. What the anti-Israel propagandists generally don’t know, because they’re historically illiterate or just plain dumb, is the name Palestine originated as a Roman name for ancient Israel (Romans called the country Judea, signifying land of the Jews). That’s right: Palestine is a Latin word, not Arabic. The Romans imposed the name Palestine on Jews in retribution for a Jewish Revolt, about 2,000 years ago, intended to erase the Jewish heritage of their homeland. Palestine referred to Philistines, well-known enemies of the Israelites recorded in the Bible.
Below are excerpts from books by eminent scholars of Roman history who wrote about the episode of Roman Palestine. So, Palestine never really existed in the Middle East. It’s a Western nickname for Jews’ Homeland.
