“Five hundred and ten thousand,” said Baker, a former Republican governor of Massachusetts who has served since 2023 as president of the NCAA, which governs intercollegiate athletics at more than 1,000 colleges and universities across the country.

“How many transgender athletes are you aware of?” Durbin asked.

“Less than 10,” Baker said. He did not say whether that number includes transgender men.

A year ago, that number was less than 100, and it did include male trans athletes as well. I can well imagine that trans athletes aren't even trying to get athletic scholarships any more.

That's why the right wing trans hysteria is so ridiculous. As the governor of Utah said "We have 2 trans athletes in the State of Utah. I think we can handle this".

And notice that all of the people making these ridiculous posts are MEN. Not women, and certainly not the female athletes that Republicans are claiming they're protecting. Would that Republicans would be THAT vigilante in ensuring that pregnant women get the proper care they need. Those women are DYING. 1200 of them last year. 80% of whom could have been saved if Republicans weren't so busy saving unborn lives.

Republicans are ignorant in general. I have been reading about what happens when people transition. Men lose muscle mass and strength, and cannot grow muscle as fast or get as strong. Women who are on testosterone get stronger, grow muscles faster and become more aggressive. This is the biology of this matter and Repubicans are ignorant about it.

Riley Gaines began the whining but she came in 8th place t the NCAA swimming championships in the same race Lia Thompson won. 6 women were ahead of her besides Thompson. Had Thompson not been in that race, Gaines would still have lost and she would have taken 7th. Katie Ledeckey or the top women swimmers aren't crying about it, nor are other top women athletes. Simone Biles blasted Gaines.

Republican men used this to inflame their equally ignorant base to get out and vote. They don't care anything about women

How about NONE of them are beating "real women". One trans woman won one NCAA event, 20 years ago, but the longer they're taking the testosterone blockers, the more female their bodies become.

The NCAA swimmer who won a medal in her first meet as a woman, never repeated that event. In fact a year later and her ranking among NCAA women was slightly LOWER, than his ranking had been competing as a man.

This is a solution in search of a problem, but one which got the GOP a LOT of votes. Hope you enjoy the latest tax cuts. It's the end of your economy as you know it.
