Zone1 Our tax dollars are funding the richest pension program in the US for Federal workers. WHY?

The thing is the pay for government work is more and more on par or exceeding equivalent private sector work in many cases.
In some cases it may be, in others not even close. The President makes $400K/year, less than a VP of a mid-sized company. Senators and Congressmen make even less and they have authority over a trillion dollar budget. I had a well-paying gov't job but I now make twice that in the private sector. A common story among my peers.

In most blue cities public school teachers and admin make far more than private school ones, except for say the high end prep schools in places like Manhattan.

But BUREAUCRATS make far more than equivalent workers in the private sector.

Ridiculously so given their gross incompetence and laziness.

I that your gut talking? According to current data, the average salary for someone with a master's degree is around $81,848 per year. Well above the average for teachers.

No, that is factual. Private schools, and my daughter attended one, expend far less money, per student, than public schools. The teachers at my daughters school made about 1/3 less than public school teachers.

They taught at the private school because it was a nicer environment, so they chose to make less, for a better work environment, and families that were more engaged in their kids lives.

Comparing apples to aardvarks.

I am talking teachers to teachers.

I have a Masters in ChemE. Should I make the same as someone with a Masters in Aztec Lesbian Basketweaving studies?

So you're saying this is an example of the free market in action? Sounds right.

No, way less. There are thousands of ChemEs out there, how many people do you know with a Masters in Aztec Lesbian Basketweaving studies?

Yeah, it is. Quality of life over amount of payment is a question commonly asked by workers. Those who commute long distances chose pay rate over quality of life.

Unless they have a plan to work hard for a set number of years, and then take it easy.

All decisions are based on that balance.

That's the wrong question. The proper question is who cares about Aztec lesbian basketweaving?

It's not about how many, it's about demand.

How many ChemE's are needed vs. how many Azetec Lesbian Basketweaving experts?

1984, I was getting hired by the IRS as a computer tech. As soon as the blacks found out, they threatened to go on STRIKE if I got hired. My ship came in and the black women sank it.
I hope Elon and Vivek cut the holy shyt out of those leeches.

I have zero problems with that. I know of no wealthy teachers. They are just working people. I support them getting a pension big time. Heck we just gave our teachers here a 7 percent raise. Happy they got it.

Until those pensions run out of money because they don't fund them properly.
