Our survival by 2049 depends on our independence by tariffs like 25% on Apple and other companies!

What is the PURPOSE of forcing apple to manufacture all their phones in the USA as Trump is trying to do? Please explain the benefit to the united states citizens.
Trump is not demanding that Apples all be manufactured in the US

But he is pushing to decouple from china

At 82 years old I'll not see the year 2049.
But my granddaughter and other relatives may still be around when this might happen.
"Imagine waking up tomorrow and your phone has no signal. Your smart home isn’t working. Your Ring camera is offline. You get in your car, but your GPS won’t route. Worse, every traffic light in town is out. Intersections are a mess of blaring horns and confusion. Sirens echo in the distance. You drive to an ATM, hoping to grab some cash. The screen flickers, then goes black. It’s not just your neighborhood. It’s not just your state. The entire nation has gone dark."

Trump threatens Apple with a 25% tariff if it doesn’t build iPhones in America

And I'm so in favor of it!
Shareholders who's main concern is today's value of shares are responsible indirectly for the independence of our future generations!
China still accounts for the majority of Apple iPhone production but the tech giant has sought to ramp up manufacturing in places like India and Vietnam across its product range.Apr 3, 2025

So Americans... you want to be free... INDEPENDENT... Trump's 25% tariff on Apple is a perfect example of how WE the consumers will be paying for our independence !

Come on folks... again by 2049 China will if we don't change our dependence shut America down!!!

They took our TVs (RCA MAGNAVOX), they took our cable TV boxes, PC & tablets, chips & wafers etc... .they did not get every Automobile company yet.

They left hair salons, piercings shops and tattoo parlors. Enjoy.

Obviously YOU have learned NOTHING as there is NO slave labor after the civil war are you aware of that? Maybe we learned but China has not and you still support that slave labor by buying products from China? You are definitely worse person than me as at least NOW and due to my evidently more intelligent ancestors do NOT want to be dependent on slave labor. Obviously you are ok with that today!
Bullshit. It just had another name. Jim Crow had the same effect as slave labor.

Well, if you look at the autos being produced in China, and the quality of the autos for the price, that is next on the list. Until Musk went off on his drug induced insanity and became a Trumpanzee, we had a chance. That is gone now, the Chinese EV's are many years ahead of Tesla, and cost less than ICE cars. Some even have over 500 miles range, and their battery plants are at least five years ahead of what we have. So what is this admin's answer to that? Destroy as much basic research in this nation as possible and degrade education as much as possible. A winning policy, I am sure.

...wtf?

Thanks for the update and I stand corrected

What is the practical result?

Trump has a good idea but not enough time to carry it out

3 years is not long enough to relocate Apple production to the US and trump knows it

Eventually he will have to compromise on this issue

But I suspect he will get something of value for America

Trump has a very bad ideas if what you want is lower inflation and stable bussiness environment.

Apple and Sumsung will pay the 25% tariff and keep making their phones overseas while Americans will have to pay more for their phones.

I think you are wrong

Foreign companies including Apple will move as much production as possible to the US

Which may not be much in only 3 years

then negotiate for relief as long as they dont produce in china

We do want to lower inflation

But it is not the only goal

Reducing our dependance on china matters also even if globalists in America cant see it

And I'm sure Trump with his 54 years in business understands relocation time frames, BUT someone had to start the
process of bringing back simply as a security issue important components, etc extremely important to our security.

I take the threat of chinese cyber warfare seriously

But not to the extent of bowing down to them

I think we may have dome tricks of our own in response

I agree with all you said! Definitely "bowing" as what we've done including GOPers in past administrations.
Encouraging businesses to have Chinese slave labor provide goods and services was morally and security deficiencies!

As I've repeatedly said... I personally don't like Trump's braggart, narcissistic loud mouth personality. He is though an executive that has been successful and who also loves America,Americans, military and law enforcement. All attributes I also have. Looking beyond my personal dislike I look at what helps America first and Trump has! But the juvenile MSM never felt prior to Trump's Democrat party membership and donations... but when he became a realist i.e. GOP... they hated him so much the 3 major networks donated over $400 million in free advertising on evening news with this!
From June 1 through July 31, the ABC, CBS and NBC evening newscasts focused 512 minutes of airtime on the President, or nine times more than the 58 minutes allotted to Biden,” During these two months, our analysts documented 668 evaluative statements about the President, 95% of which (634) were negative, vs. a mere 5% (34) that were positive.”
Broadcast coverage of Trump 95% negative, according to new study S

Yea yea, sure, sure.

You give Americans a choice to buy a $1000 iphone made in China and same iphone made in America for $3000 and you'll learn very quick what all the "globalists" and "dependance on China" rhetoric is worth.

Smartphones are not a critical production (unlike some other vital products) and we have no "dependancy" serious enough to make the sort of economic sacrifices that are needed to produce them domesticaly.

If Trump had a SERIOUS long term plan to bring production to United States then he would also take care of the labor side of the equation through vast expansion of immigration quotas and vocational training programs that would lay the groundwork to bring manufacturing back to United States that could get within even a 100 miles of being able to meet our demand.

Instead of steadfast, well thought out, well defined policies we have a daily make-it-up-as-we-go-along shitshow chaos that stinks of corrupt favoritism and is highly incoherent and desruptive to bussinesses.

The price of IPhones is not going to rise to $3,000 if they are no longer made in china

Trump is pushing Apple to decouple from china and hopefully that will result in more US production

Thats good for America
