Our survival by 2049 depends on our independence by tariffs like 25% on Apple and other companies!

And you have no problem living in a Country that was built using slave labor. :itsok:
Tell me what countries were built NOT using slave labor?
TODAY you use products from countries like these!

From global to national estimates

The 10 countries with the largest estimated numbers of people in modern slavery include some of the world’s most populous. Collectively, these countries — India (11 million), China (5.8 million), North Korea (2.7 million), Pakistan (2.3 million), Russia (1.9 million), Indonesia (1.8 million), Nigeria (1.6 million), Türkiye (1.3 million), Bangladesh (1.2 million), a

I am 100% sure you support at least one or more of these countries.

Obviously there are a few people on this forum that hate the U.S. and want to see China control the world.
As I started this comment, I'm not going to be alive when the U.S. based on the past and if Trump is not successful, my granddaughter will have to learn to speak Chinese and her off-spring won't know English.
Truly sad to see some of the commentators will be happy!

One thing I find strange about tariffs, Democrats used to be for them and Republicans against them. Now that Trump wants them Republicans support and Democrats don't.

Tariffs are supported by the Dems yer just confused on the issue.

Were, not are. It used to be something they supported in the past, and the republicans fought against.
Biden kept Trump tariffs and raised or imposed new tariffs.

Yes, this is largely accurate. The Biden administration largely maintained tariffs imposed by the Trump administration. In fact, Biden has even expanded tariffs on certain goods, such as EVs and semiconductors from China, according to Wikipedia. Additionally, the Biden administration has introduced new tariffs, for example, on solar panels from China and other countries, according to Wikipedia.

I take it the OP doesn't support free trade.
Of course I support FREE TRADE! But you don't seem knowledgeable that the following list of countries that charge a tariff against the USA imports....Is that "FREE TRADE"???

$1000 iPhone vs estimated $3700 iPhone made in the USA....? Hmmm, which one would you pick as an American citizen?

How many fewer phones would iPhone sell at that price? About 30% of what they do now, if that?

But its a start

Everything we do to cripple china’s economy is a plus for America’s future well being
Perhaps you should research what will happen when China calls in the US debt
and research the following "how much will it cost to invest in manufacturing in the USA"

$3700 dollar iPhone, how many are you going to purchase?

China cannot “call in” our debt

They can sell their bonds on which they are cutting their own throat

Yes interest rates will go up and thats a big problem for us

But the sooner we call that bluff the better off we will be

I wont

Thats a wild exaggeration that will not happen

Apple will move production out of china even if it does not mean 100% production in the US

Plus, who says consumers simply cannot live without next years whoopi-do I phone?

If production ceased world-wide it will damage Apple but consumers will be ok for years

How do you think they will recoup the 1T investment in infrastructure and a loaded labor rate of $50 an hour for factory workers?

Thats chump change for Apple

Plus Indian and SE Asian workers make even less than Apple is paying the chinese now

But it will be a challenging transition for Apple at first for a variety of reasons
