Our crumbling infrastructure

We sure got a lot for that $800B Stimulus bill!

Just think, for less than half that amount we could have fixed our crumbling infrastructure, but all we got was a bunch of debt and some Organizing For America t-shirts.

No you got tax cuts, just what the right screamed about.

Nope, far less than half of it went to temporary tax credits, which did nothing for the economy being temporary and of an amount that Michelle Obama said would only be spent on a pair of earrings.

Most went to grants to states to keep public employee unions feeding at the trough, and for the biggest growth initiative of all: unemployment benefits.

No, rescind all the tax cuts. And close all the loopholes that allows people to offshore income.

You cannot pay the debt and bring the costs down just by spending cuts. Particularly when our infrastructure upon which our businesses and homes are dependent on are crumbling.

This is the reality that the Conservatives ignore. The conservatives, Eisenhower Republicans, were the architects of our Interstate System. The Conservatives are the architects of it's destruction.

I got a novel idear. Let's let ALL the people who depned on "infratstructe" pay Federal Income Tax" no breaks, no give aways, no rebate.. that'll fix things and balance the budget.

Mostly if not every US citizen depends on it.

Govs: No infrastructure funds from Bush - USATODAY.com

Governors pushing for federal money to repair roads, water systems and bridges say they did not get the response they wanted from the White House on Monday. Even their own ranks are divided over infrastructure spending.
Governors raised the issue during a meeting with President Bush. "It's the best type of stimulus, even better than what was in the first package," Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, a Democrat, said as he left the White House.

Bush this month signed an economic stimulus package to send $300 to $1,200 rebate checks to millions of Americans and to offer tax incentives to businesses. He opposed including infrastructure projects because "it's not really a stimulative way to get the economy going," White House press secretary Dana Perino said Monday.

How much water does a corpration use?

How much does your mothers house use?

The wealthy use more and should pay more of the bill to fix it.

Don't these tasks fall to the states that the facilities reside in?

I would think so.

Revenue sharing.

The FEDs assist the states which then assist the local communities.

Or in some cases some kinds of repairs and upgrades the local communities get grants directly from the FEDS.

Here in my little town about twenty years ago, I'm informed, they replaced some of our original water main system's oldest pipes.

They were made of WOOD, and had been servicing our town for nearly a century.

What do you want to bet that what they replaced those log-pipes with won't last as long?

Isnt that the reason one pays based on one's usage?

TM...you really need to get passed this. You say thiongs that are doing nothing more than contributing to class warfare.

You seem hell bent on increasing the operating costs on corporations that will do nothing but pass that on to the consumer.

And before you disagree....exactly what do you think base prices of goods are based on?
