Rap is replacing rock and may eventually replace or merge with country as what rural and small town folk hear and play. It would be a more relaxed style of rap with more acoustic instruments and less electronic samples, turntables, etc.
Rodney Atkins recently released a new recording of his #1 song from 2007 named "Watching You". Because the song is about his son Elijah, they are now singing it together. Elijah will be 24 on September 28th this year.
God bless you and Rodney and his family always!!!
Holly
P.S. To me, when Elijah speaks, he sounds just like his dad, but when he sings, a whole other story is what's being written. I don't know if he is trying to sound different on purpose or if what he is giving us truly is his natural singing voice.
Go here for the latest concerning new singer Conner Smith.
God bless you and him and the family he impacted always!!!
Holly (a girl who prays for him and the family)
P.S. I don't know his material yet, but I do pray that what happened with him doesn't ruin what could've been for him in the music business. I don't mean to sound insensitive but kicking him to the curb will not bring back the lady who was accidently killed. If he doesn't score a musical identity when the dust settles, it should only be due to him no longer wanting one anymore.
Go here for a good write up on the duo named Thompson Square.
To me, the point that they make is a good one. If these pop artists do not have the intention of sticking around in country music, the little that they do put out there should not ever be submitted for country music award nominations unless the country that they do sing is with a country act, but yeah Kiefer and Shawna are most definitely right when they said that the singers who are deeply rooted in country should not have to worry about being passed over those who have no intention of making themselves at home within the format. Dolly Parton recently released a pop album for example, but if it doesn't get any pop award nominations, it may be due to the fact that it could end up being the only pop project that she produces.
God bless you and the lady legend and Thompson Square always!!!
Right here is a great new clip of John Foster from this year's American Idol season. I left what I hope is a good message in return underneath it at the You Tube website. What I love about this clip is getting to know more about John and the more that I get to know about him, the more complaints that I do not have where he is concerned.
God bless you and him always!!!
Holly (a girl who hopes to meet him someday)
P.S. My only complaint would be about his age. He is going to be 19 on July 9th which is right about my birthday. I turn 43 on June 30th. In other words, my only question for the Lord is why did 24 years have to be in between John's age and mine?
I'd like to know how many dates he does a year. To me, it sounds like that he may be doing too many which I believe is what too many singers have been guilty of over the years. I get that they want to be out there with their fans, but if their health and well-being is what suffers in the process, what exactly will they have on their plate still when the dust has finally settled?
I haven't listened to country music in a long time. Unless it's a name I recognize from the late '90s/early 2000s, I couldn't tell you who the big name performers in the industry are these days. But Brad Paisley is coming here in November, so I'll want to see him perform for sure.
Oh, how I pray for 90s country singer LeAnn Rimes. What recently happened with her is something that she may never hear the end of. My big question is what was wrong with her smile in the first place? Next year, it will be 30 years since she first started getting played on the radio and even though she did have slight gap in her mouth, her smile couldn't have been any more beautiful. As far as I know, she has NEVER gotten into drugs.
P.S. What surprises me is her being on tour right now. It must be the last of her shows before she turns her full attention to her next acting project which is a leading role on a new TV show named 911 Nashville.
