Ireland grapples with singing of pro-IRA chant
Country debates whether chant is legitimate expression of national pride or an affront to victims of the Troubles

The Irish womens football team was caught singing this after winning a world cup qualifier a few weeks ago. It caused upset amongst unionists who ,ro be fair, have never been backward in stoking sectarian tensions.
It was harmless enough a few years back but as the demographics change it is probably not helpful in winning acceptance by moderate unionists.
If Ireland is to move forward they need to leave this baggage behind.
