Probably your greatest president. Back when the U.S was young with so much promise, 160 years ago (Canada wasn't even formed yet). Hopefully you don't follow some of your allies so far that your Constitution and global Goodwill is rendered obsolete.

Abraham Lincoln is responsible for one of the boldest and most far-reaching uses of executive powers in American history by his announcement that enslaved people would soon be "forever free" on this day in history, Sept. 22, 1862.

Dubbed by historians the "preliminary" Emancipation Proclamation, Lincoln's announcement noted that slavery would end in the United States on Jan. 1, 1863 — the date his proclamation would take effect.

He made the announcement to the nation as the Civil War dragged through its second year. It had grown much deadlier than almost anyone had anticipated.

Criticism of the U.S. from a Canadian who voted for a guy who paraded around in blackface. We should ship some illegal aliens to Canada and see how they like it.

Ever since, the DemoKKKrats still can't get over the fact that a Republican took their slaves away.

Americas biggest tyrant in history.
Blows my mind how people think political theater, suspension of rights, scorched earth policy on women and children, shutting down media outlets etc make someone "great"
Funny you mention the constitution becoming "obsolete" when he basically suspended the first 10 amendments.

"Americas biggest tyrant in history." Yes. Only the most evil and depraved of tyrants would deny to Good, White, Christian Southerners all the pleasures and profits that comes from tyrannizing Black people.

Only stupid people bring this up when discussing the tyranny of abe.
Why cant someone be against slavery and tyranny? Are you THAT fucking dumb?
He didnt give 2 shits about slaves. He even offered them slavery FOREVER. The war was over the economy. He even said so.
Read a book!

Well, think about it. If Lincoln was tyrant, it stands to reason that everything he did was tyrannical, like the Emancipation Proclamation.

Lol over 90% of blacks remained in the South until well into the WW I era, so do tell us exactly how 'free' they were and why those wonderful Yankees made sure they stayed in the South if they were 'free n stuff'. All Abe wanted is for his banker and railroad buddies to get filthy rich off of corporate welfare programs and have the South pay for it. Most Yankees fought to make sure blacks stayed in the South and out of the Midwest and new territories. See Illinois's brand new 1853 Black Codes that made impossible for a black to make a legal living in that state, supported by Lincoln.

More on laws Lincoln never raised a peep over in his political career and railroad lawyer in Illinois.
