Yep, it seems fictions broadcast on the radio have the effect to arouse emotional fears, both in 1938 and on going today. Limbaugh, et al ring a bell?

H.G. Wells was imagining heat rays, planetary travel, possibility of higher intelligence, and biological warfare.
He was far ahead of his time.

Lobbyists, ambassadors, envoys, judges ( they may be 'appointed' per political beliefs/donations, but they aren't necessarily 'political'.)
