these have led to an upswing in mass shootings and other violent acts.
Is that the case ?
We have these things in Europe as well but we also have noticably less gun violence.
Are people influenced by their culture in this respect ?

What you will see is you are catching up. Guns are being used by your criminal populations more and more, families in Europe have broken down to the point fatherless homes are creating more and more criminals.

The fact that Europe had to spend decades recovering from the Second World War, on the heels of the vast destruction and death of the First World War, kept them from reaching critical mass for violence until just recently....as we see with the growing levels of gun crime in France, the Netherlands, Sweden........

Once a society destroys the family, once they allow violent criminals to run free...then you see the increase and acceleration of violence and gun crime....

We are going to tell you the truth, the facts and the reality....but because it won't meet your world view, you are going to ignore it....

How about more honesty and less hype to serve a biased agenda ? !
From your link, the sentence just after the headline;
"More than half of all gun violence deaths this year were deaths by suicide."(in USA)

That means less than 20,000 could actually be murders, at best.
Next thing is compare to population, as in 'murder per 100,000'; or such.

Point being murder numbers/rates are the more informative statistic, and it needs to be acknowledged that where firearms are harder to attain, than other weapons/instruments will be used.
