Old age scares me to death

Another excellent training device:

It can help you develop better timing for takedown defense.

...
Our Take downs we never go on our knees .

Say what now?
My favorite and most used takedown is quickly dropping to one knee, placing hands behind opponents' heels, and pushing with shoulder just below his knees. Many options after that if you can be fast.
If you're just dropping to a knee instead of penetrating your opponent's stance and driving through, you may well end up on your back in a poor position in short order.
No we bump him in chest with shoulder and do the “ turn the corner double leg
Really use head to knock him down and push feet

I hope your striking is solid.

I am getting some good basics and it’s better than zero
The double leg against the wall is different
We also do a bunch of double under hook take downs and knee blocks
This stuff Is good for beginners and I can grasp it

HS wrestling and College is extremely intricate.
We do a simplified method

I assume you wrestled in HS
And long before and long after.

The equipment I linked to is kind of expensive, but well worth it if your club has the $$$. If you don't go live, it allows you endless drilling.

I assume you have a dedicated wrestling instructor at your club? Ask him about taking a russian to a double overhook. Excellent control if you can get into position. Lots of fun throws from there.

Again it’s a “building blocks class “
At 45 ..I am happy with it
I can afford $150’a month

He is an mma fighter and jack of all trades
We try to keep it basic
The gym also offers full BJJ and regular College style wrestling
The free style wrestling is very different and you fight for various controls first
We enter by strikes

With my Lower back pain the drilling Is much easier on me than going live
Also I am not very strong

That might be too much
Only so much I can absorb and retain
We do some grappling against a real cage

you must have wrestled in HS
You seem to know a lot

You can still get stronger at 45. As for your back pain, send your 24 year old girlfriend on a vacation for a few weeks and you'll be fine.

43 years or so of wrestling you pick up a few things.

Every work out gym is closed in Vegas

The muscle above your neck is always the most important.

You are penetrating his stance. When you drop to one knee you are less than one foot from your opponent's legs and specifically his knees with your shoulders. Once one of your shoulders is pressed against his shins just below his knees and your hands behind his heels he has no defense and will fall straight back. It never failed for me.
