Oklahoma Passes Bill Banning ALL Abortions - No Rape Exceptions - 10 years in Prison for Performing one

Buy a PDR or look it up online. That ship has sailed. There is a drug commercial going in the background right now. It is the world in which we live. So now you want girls or women to wait and talk to a doctor before getting the "morning after" pill. It is rare for me to make an appointment and get it the same day? Average for me is 3 days plus, and that is in a small town/city private clinic, that I have a long personal relationship with, even singing in the choir with the principal MD. Some appointments take people 2-3 weeks or more, pretty much negating the whole "morning after" idea. In a big city, that dog won't hunt.

I don't know about anybody else but it takes me months to get an appointment with my doctor. We have Urgent Care centers here where you just walk in and see a doctor or nurse practitioner. Probably the most you wait is like an hour if they're busy.

After I was diagnosed with heart failure, I told my doctor about a pain I had (I forget what it was now) and explained that I always use Aleve because it's a miracle drug for me. She strongly advised against it. I never even thought of it before taking the mediation. How was I to know? Well, if you have good enough eyes to read the tiny lettering on the bottle, it tells you to ask your doctor before using their product if you have heart problems.

So the responsibility actually lies with the user of any product, but again, how many of us read all the crap about any medication we take? How many of us (in pain) would wait for our doctor to get back to us after a weekend or the next week day?

Believe it or not, I was also told to stay away from orange juice (which I loved) because my potassium levels were high on my blood test. Of course there is no warning on orange juice cartons to ask your doctor before drinking the stuff.

I work in the healthcare industry, and I know about the possible side effects and warnings and whatnot for over-the-counter medications. I still have to remind myself to take them as seriously as they should be. I also know for a fact that the average person, with no medical knowledge, tends to think "over-the-counter" means "completely harmless". It is absolutely appalling to doctors and nurses just how little respect people have for OTC meds.

If, God forbid, my daughter were raped, I would certainly recommend that she take emergency contraception, but there's not a chance in Hell I would let her do it without consulting a doctor.

Ahhh, there's that "deep concern" for the safety of women: "We're already endangering them, so just get over it and accept it."

I'm definitely going to listen to you on what's best for women.

Women who have been raped don't have to wait to talk to a doctor; they can (and should) go to an ER. Women who want morning-after contraception for consensual sex should 1) be using some sort of regular birth control, which requires consultation with a doctor, and 2) should thoroughly discuss possible future use of the morning-after pill with him/her at that time. I think a plan where doctors discuss future contingencies and possible health problems with their patients in advance, then make some sort of provision for making the contraception available in a timely fashion, would be preferable to simply allowing women to buy something that could cause harm or even death with no contact with a medical professional at all.

We? Who is "we"? You got a rat in your pocket? Maybe you have been endangering women, but I haven't.

You're going to listen to me on what is best for women? OK. It is the same as I recommend for men. Do what is best in the long term if choosing between short term and long term effects. Keep your options open as situations change. Don't let people talk you into things not in your best interests. Make your decisions rationally, and logically, no emotionally. Don't expect the government to do for you what you are responsible for doing for your self. Study hard. Work hard. Don't **** over people to get ahead. Tell the truth, if asked. If not asked, usually best not to volunteer information. Don't trust the government (anybody's government). Definitely do not trust the people that would destroy the US Government. Be independent. Trust your training and instincts if you absolutely have to decide on the spur of the moment, as without them, you are truly at the will of others and no help to yourself.

Oh, I'm sorry, I was speaking adult English, and forgot to dumb it down so you could understand it.

In my first paragraph, "We" would refer to the same "we" YOU were talking about, ie. US society at large.

I apologize for not remembering who I was talking to and accommodating you by reminding you of and explaining your own post so you could follow along.

Sure there is… The filthy whore could just runoff to a neighboring state to kill the baby
So you support the right to at least go to another state for an abortion? Would you oppose efforts to make that illegal too?

I would support a national ban on abortion.
I’m 100% pro choice…dirty whores should have the choice to have responsible sex or not to have responsible sex.

The legislation bans all abortions except in the case of medical emergencies, and makes performing an abortion a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.

Women in Oklahoma must now keep their rape baby as an eternal reminder of what happened to them - the only exception is a medical emergency.

Thoughts?!
This is total insanity. Roe versus Wade came into being because of egregious abortion laws, and this law has to be the most egregious of all. On the news yesterday a woman who wanted to have a child and her husband just found out that the baby she was carrying was unviable at 23 weeks so she had to have an abortion. And going to the clinic, anti-abortion protesters further tormented her. This is why abortion should be a medical issue between a person and their doctor and the government should stay the hell out of the situation. They just f*** everything up.

You mean further than Insanity of this situation. Absolutely not you people are out of your minds.

"dirty whores"

That's what Republicans think of women

This is the whole problem, these laws are totally prejudiced, and based on hatred. They have no place in America or any other Free Nation. They are an insult to every American, not just all women.

Nope.

How so? Also, who is "you people"?
I was referring to the anti-abortion people, they are not pro-life, that is another fallacy about this insane movement. Now you have a steak talking about monitoring pregnant women because they might have to have an abortion. What's next are you going to track everybody for every reason on Earth. Republicans are supposed to be conservative, this is not conservatism this is extremism in the fascist sense. Big brother controls your life that's insane this is America we're a free Nation we're not a communist or totalitarian government. All these laws do is promote more agony and pain for the women who have to go through this like Lori Brown-Loftis who found out on her late term checkup that the child she and her husband was preparing a nursery for was unviable. No chance of survival. She had to go out of state to have the abortion and at that clinic she was greeted by anti-abortion protesters who jeered her making her feel even worse about having to do this. They don't care about the women, they don't care about the fetuses involved, all they care about is their own ******* selves and how they feel about it. In the first place it's none of their goddamn business. In the second place we're supposed to be a Christian people. This is no way to treat anyone.

Did the Anti-Life contingent in the Oklahoma legislature negotiate and pledge their support for the bill if they would just make exceptions for those women who impregnator was convicted of rape in the event?

Or did they just try and obstruct the whole bill?

The failure of the D's to actually negotiate and act in a bipartisan manner is the real reason for this.

Pro-Choice folks have been "negotiating" with anti-abortion nutjobs for decades. Unfortunately negotiating with nutjobs is a fools errand

What "negotiations"?

You hid behind Roe for decades and now that the shield is gone, your side's true nature is being shown.

Threats of violence, actual violence against pregnancy centers, laws that can be misinterpreted to advocate infanticide if the situation warrants it, support for third trimester abortions of the flimsiest pretenses.

Actually, they haven't been at all. In fact, anti-life activists have pushed for Government paid Abortions as well as any commonsense regulations on the abortion racket. Texas, for example, proposed requiring abortionists have admitting privileges at hospitals for their patients who get sick after the event.

Oh. Well that ain't me. I'm fervently pro-choice. On everything.
Republicans are supposed to be conservative, this is not conservatism this is extremism in the fascist sense.
Republicans bailed on conservatism in favor of populism.

You can't negotiate when it comes to fundamental individual rights. Either people agree to respect them, or they don't. We (hopefully) would never negotiate with people who wanted to legalize slavery, for example. Even if they were the majority.
