Yesterday the company had to suspend its latest effort to stop the massive oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico, as the specialty saw used by corporate engineers became stuck within the pipe.

BP's most recent failures come as no surprise to Texas businessman and colorful character Daniel E. Davis. The CEO of the D.E. Davis Group, a consortium of construction, heavy equipment and pipeline companies based in Harlingen, Davis claims that neither BP nor the government is listening to those who have expertise in dealing with oil spills (namely, him).

"You're damn right it failed," stated Davis. "I have tried for weeks to get them to listen and implement my idea to fix the leak. They finally try to take my idea for themselves and they foul it up. It takes a bit of expertise, and they don't have it."

So Davis took to the Internet and launched a website: Oil Spill Fix."

I believe most feel the opposite. If the federal government would have "stayed out of the way" from the beginning, this spill would not have reached the magnitude that it has. The oil leak has proven near impossible to stop because the location is so far offshore and so deep. This fact was even admitted by President Obama in his interview with Matt Lauer when he stated that if this spill had taken place in shallow water it would have been plugged within a couple of days. Why was the rig so far offshore? Government regulations. A growing government always leads to bigger problems. In most cases, keep the federal government out of the way and let the private sector prosper.

1. Seeing I'm the smartest motherfucker on the planet.
2. Here's what I propose to do to plug it.
3. Seeing its a pipe these leaks are coming from, all that has to be done is to know the overall size of this pipe, then make a special sleave thats some what bigger than it, so its easy enough to slip over the mouth where the oil is gushing.
4. Then inside of this pipe we make, is a special stainless steel expandable sleave that will crank down on the outside of the pipe once its installed.
5. For a short time the oil will flow through it, until a valve is screwed in like a common water valve, ofcourse made of stainless steel.
6. Problem solved, and yes I'm from TEXAS!!!!!

2. It worked, and it stopped the leak.

You sound kinda foolish man, no offense. The Pipe was Damaged, and they had trouble getting a seal to it because of that. When they put the last cap on it, the Fear was the cap would work so well, the Damaged Pipe Casing under ground would rapture and then sealing it would be near impossible.

Experts from around the world worked on this leak to get it plugged. It was by no means an easy engineering Challenge. The Depth of the Water alone made it much like trying to plug a leak in Space, only you can not send men to do it. It was all by remote control.

While it is true Government Limits shallow water drilling, do not kid yourself they would still drill deep to. You go where the Oil is. What I fault Obama for in that Speech, was when he CLAIMED the only reason they are drilling that deep is because we are running out of oil closer to shore and on land. THAT IS A LIE, but BP or someone would be drilling deep with or with out the Government restraints on easier drilling.

2. A hellofvalot of what I post has a slight bit of humor in it.
3. Most people catch on to that right away.
4. I think BP's biggest fear was the loss of the oil.
5. There it was gushing out, and they couldn't gather it up fast enough before the salt water got to it.
6. They tried all sorts of ways to gather the oil.
7. Nothing worked well enough.
8. So after my scathing thread they got busy and plugged the bastard!
9. I did have the answer this time, and I usually do, but not always.
10. I am with you on the oil being everywhere under ground, we can just about drill for it and never miss, if we wanted too.

Hmm Number 5. Um Thank GOD they did that. Government Estimates say they Got about 40% of all the oil that leaked that way. So what if they can sell it and make money, would you have wanted them not to do it and let it all leak into the gulf?

1. Problem was thats what they wanted most was the oil, didn't see how bad having all that oil getting into our Gulf, could hurt their corp. with all the bad press and all.
2. I think that they could have plugged the well in two weeks at the very most, if they decided early on that that was their goal.
3. But no, they decided to try and figure out a way to gather the oil, and spent millions trying new things, and all the while, oil shitted our Gulf.
4. This was done at a high cost, but you know what, everyone will forget about it in six months.
5. Everyone knows that, so in the end, evrything will be forgotten and forgiven.
6. I think we should allow them to drill, but make them pay additional royalities to all the states effected by the spill.
