OK....I didn't vote for this....Trump says US will accept 600,000 Chinese students as part of trade deal

600k chinese going to us schools?

I'll believe that,... .... .... never.

Many or most of them will be studying stem, and they will want jobs, and they will find jobs.

And even if the US government manages for once, to do a good jobs and stop it,

that will still be 600k, slots NOT available to AMERICANS, in AMERICAN schools.
Are you one of those who was complaining so much about affirmative action in college admissions?

If this happens it will be a huge step back for trump

And its not the usual fake news via the lying lib news media

Trump is actually floating the idea

Well, we don't know that the other parts of the deal are, so maybe the over all deal is good...

but yes, it looks like this is Trump dropping the ball.

if any rising republicans want to make a name for themselves, making an issue of this in the 2028 gop primaries would do that for them.

Vance will win, but the street cred that such a move would last and set them up to be a real player down the line.

And the more they move the this issue, the more street cred they would get, with the base.

MAGA.

Well......?

Not sure what you mean. YOu remembered or guessed right.

I oppose anti-white discrimination in favor of black or brown people.

I want those slots for me and mine.

And amazingly you’ll still worship him. You’re a dumbass
Its not a done deal

First MAGAs will try to persuade trump against it

We are used to fighting hard for issues we believe in

But we didnt dump Reagan over one misstep and the same goes for trump

So you want affirmative action.

I agree. I don't like this news at all. We have plenty of outstanding American students completely capable and anxious to fill those spots.

What I don't think a lot of people are aware of is that a lot of colleges are in financial struggles right now, attendance is way down in many smaller state schools from where it was years ago. There is more than enough opportunity for American students to attend, as well as any additional students brought in from abroad. So that's not really a reason to be against this initiative, there are plenty of other viable reasons however, including all the ones that have already been mentioned.

I was associating "weirdos" with the Creepy Ones.

This decision is going to hurt his base no question. I am starting to wonder if Trump has decided he doesn't care about the midterm results since he passed the BBB and has the room he needs to make decisions.

This decision on Chinese students just seems as far away from MAGA as one would expect. This is 600k placements that American students won't get. Worse is the national security risk

This is not true, attendance has been in decline for years, smaller universities are hurting, and even the large ones are impacted. Penn State is shutting down several branch campuses and have done layoffs. This is not a reason to be against what Trump is proposing.

College enrollment in the US is experiencing a decline, a trend that began in 2012 and has accelerated since the COVID-19 pandemic. This decline is projected to continue, with potential consequences for higher education institutions.

Here's a breakdown of the situation:
Factors Contributing to the Decline:
  • Demographic Shifts:
Declining birth rates in the US, particularly since the 2007-2009 recession, mean fewer potential college students are graduating high school. This "demographic cliff" is expected to significantly impact enrollment numbers in the coming years.

  • Economic Factors:
The cost of higher education, coupled with the perceived lack of return on investment, is a major deterrent for many students. The need to work to support themselves or their families also makes it difficult for some to pursue higher education.

    • Changing Perceptions of Higher Education:
Some students are questioning the value of a traditional four-year degree, especially in light of the increasing availability of alternative educational pathways and job training programs.
    • Increased Competition:
Top students are applying to more colleges than ever before, potentially impacting acceptance rates at all levels.
    • The Pandemic's Impact:
The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the enrollment decline, particularly for male students.
Consequences of Enrollment Decline:
    • College Closures:
Some experts predict that a significant number of colleges and universities could close or merge in the coming years due to declining enrollment and financial pressures.
    • Reduced Revenue:
Lower enrollment translates to less tuition revenue, impacting the financial stability of institutions.
    • Program Cuts and Faculty Layoffs:
Institutions may be forced to cut programs or lay off faculty to manage budget deficits.
    • Shifting Student Demographics:
The proportion of female students in higher education may continue to increase, while male enrollment may continue to decline.
    • Need for Innovation:
Colleges and universities will need to adapt to the changing landscape by developing new programs, offering more flexible learning options, and improving marketing strategies to attract students.
What's Being Done:
    • Increased Marketing and Recruitment Efforts:
Institutions are investing in more targeted marketing and recruitment strategies, including social media campaigns, personalized outreach, and student-centric engagement programs.
    • Focus on Affordability and Value:
Colleges are exploring ways to make education more affordable, such as offering scholarships, grants, and income-share agreements.
    • Developing Alternative Pathways:
Institutions are exploring alternative pathways to education, such as online programs, vocational training, and apprenticeships.
    • Addressing Student Needs:
Colleges are working to create a more supportive and inclusive environment for students, addressing issues such as mental health and well-being.

I think those that see the hand of BIG TECH BROS, are the ones that are right.

This smacks of them whining like little girls about "labor shortages" or some such retarded bulslhit.

I am sad that Trump agreed to it. I hope that MAGA can roll it back, the sooner the better, teh more teh better.

If nothing else, it would be great if by the time these students are graduating, we have President Vance and he doesn't allow tehm to be hired.

**** BIG TECH BROS.

I don't think it has anything to do with 'big tech', they can easily offshore more jobs if they want to, they are already doing it. :dunno:

So you want affirmative action.

Oh, I see, you are trying to make a comparison between my opposition to racist discrimination against whites,

to my, shall we say, NATIONALISTIC discrimination against non-American citizens.

Yes, I support different rules for AMERICANS, then for NON-AMERICANS.

In competition between AMERICANS, I want the AMERICANS to all be treated fairly, and not to discriminate against people based on race.

In competition between Americans and NON-Americans, especially in a context of A. AMERICAN RESOURCES, and B. coming out of a long period of Americans being fucked,

I just want AMERICANS to ******* win.

Generally speaking.

Hypocrite.

Indian and Chinese labor brought here are not cheap, they make as much, if not more, than their American counterparts.

It is disgraceful to see Americans who are afraid of competition. Real Americans can compete with anyone.
