It's been -78- days since the current Congress took its seat.

But cons here say that Dems caused the recession immediately after taking control of Congress. If Dems were able to cause the recession after being in control for mere days, then surely Repubs can fix the economy after a couple of months, right? I mean, they did run on jobs and the economy. Where are the jobs, Mr. Boehner?

I think I must be forced to repost an earlier post, maybe then I'll catch your attention.

The Dems budget was only active for two months prior to the recession starting.

Secondly, GWB had the veto power as the dem controlled congress wasn't veto proof.
Your partisanship seems to cloud reality. Where as I pointed out correctly, that GWB was not responsible for the 2001 recession in a non partisan manner.

The Democrats got control of the House and the Senate in 2007 because the economy was already "tanking" and the Republicans had lost the confidence of the American people.

Conservatives seem oblivious to the fact that the GOP controlled both Houses of Congress and the White House for 6 years - they had the votes so what did they accomplish during that period?

My question is why were they giving "tax cuts" to the wealthy as jobs were being sent offshore by the millions. If you're bound and determined to provide "tax cuts" to the rich, the very least you can do is to have them directly linked to ptivate sector jobs created within the country.

No new jobs = No tax cut!

Upon taking control of the government, the Democrats immediately raised the minimum wage, artificially increasing the cost of labor. The higher labor costs, the slower the economic growth.

However, the economy really began to tank in 2008 during the financial crisis and, oddly enough, when it becamse obvious that Barack Obama was going to win the White House.

Amazing coincidence, no?

maybe you need to wake up to 2 cold hard facts.

First private sector jobs are not created by passing bills, they are created by creating an environment where business can flourish. Meaning lower taxes, less regulation, and most importantly predictability.

Second, the gop controls one house of the congress and can not do anything at all right now with out democrat approval.

Since nov when the gop were swept in across the country and in congress. Job creation has increased. We have had some of the best numbers we have had in years. Why? well in part because business saw the gop get swept in, and are less worried about the health care law, and possible massive tax increases because they feel the gop took the house and are likely to make gains again in 2012. The simple act of weakening the democrats grip on power lead to more job creation. proof that what you need to do to grow jobs, is get out of the way of the private sector and let it grow.
