You get right on that and get Congress to vote to restrict their own pay. Good luck with that pipe dream.
I think if you put that to the American people they would overwhelmingly support legislation to keep politicians like Pelosi from making millions from insider information. You have to make the politicians squirm, Admiral. I know they want that easy money but I think you'll agree they want that office even more.

Then they will never get another vote from their government workers.
I agree. Government workers are overwhelmingly Democratic. If Schumer shuts the government down it hurts his constituency and he knows it. If it gives Trump the ability to start firing government workers then that constituency will go ape shit.

Are you talking about restricting their pay during the shutdown or insider trading? Those are two completely different issues and completely unrelated. One is a constitutional issue, and the other is not.

I dont believe that for one second. I will predict premiums rising rapidly. Thats my faith in this place.
WTF do premiums have to do with anything related to Obamacare? Not what we are discussing. We are talking subsidies here! Congress does not have anything to do with premiums or coverage. Your prediction is irrelevant to the discussion. Start your own thread!

I'm more concerned with stopping the insider trading. It's gone from being a small perk for people in Congress to being an obscene abuse. What pisses me off the most is someone like Pelosi pretending that she and her husband haven't been doing it when anyone with half a brain KNOWS that they have been!

If they don't own stock, they have no control over "nothing". It means nothing. No impact. If the law says they can't own stock, they can't own stock.
They simply have their spouse or another family member buy the stock. It's akin to what the Biden family was doing with selling political influence. The money may not have gone directly to Joe but he knew that it was going to his brother and his son. Nancy Pelosi may not have been the one buying stock but she's the one telling Paul Pelosi what to buy and when to sell.

They have to have money to buy the stock. Also, they could do that with anyone outside their family, and you would never know. You cannot make it foolproof. The Dims are crooked enough to find a way around it, but they will have to work at it. How does your Congressman feel about it? Have you asked? There are many in Congress that would support it, especially those who do not own stock.

If you've got insider information like they have, Admiral you can buy options with small amounts of money and turn it into huge amounts of money rather quickly. As far as the authorities never knowing? Martha Stewart found out the hard way that isn't the case. They can look at trades and the ones that are shady tend to jump out at you. My Congressman is Byron Donalds...I've never heard a peep about him doing anything improper since he got to Congress. He's just not "that guy"!

True, except for the government and military families that are affected.

Shutdowns are a waste of taxpayer money. Congress looks stupid and dysfunctional. Did you see the argument between Hakeem Jeffries and that CA congressman? Ridiculous.

If you outlaw them buying stock, they can't do that can they? I'm not sure where you are going with this. I agree they shouldn't buy stock, but I am pointing out you cannot make it foolproof!

If they investigated members of Congress for insider trading as they would investigate you or I for the same trades, Admiral they'd
stop the blatant abuses. The SEC nailed Martha Stewart because her trades were too good to be true. They can look at the record of when you're buying and selling and they know that you're using insider information.
