Odd food combos that you like

I think so.
Don't have a QFC locally.
I kinda miss Fremont my self. Used to work there a few decades ago. Haven't been there since then, and bet it is really yuppiefied.
.

It was really nice and a little eclectic, until the drug sellers moved their crappy RV's into the neighborhood. That's when hubby and I moved to Port Angeles.

Then, within two years, the same thing started happening in PA.

Read on Fox yesterday that Kroger is closing down quite a few stores across the nation. Just read the headline, so that's all I know.
I'm fairly certain our Fred's will remain open (I hope!).
The store is often full, especially with Canadian shoppers.

The one in Spokane seems to do well too.
We have two Fred's here in Bellingham.
Also have two Trader Joe's now as well.
I've been to the one near downtown Spokane, years ago, but with my daughter and her family having moved to Spokane Valley several years ago, the one there is where we shop when over there to visit them.

I didn't know there was one in Spokane Valley or near downtown. We just knew about the one in Mead on Division.

My "downtown" is just South of I-5 as one comes into Spokane headed East.
I'm racking my brain on street name exit, but can almost see the store from the freeway.

I think you mean I-90. I just looked it up--it would be Thor St. exit, but I still can't place it, LOL. Seems like it would stand out more.

Bingo !
Bingo !

Yes, my baad.
It is I-90 and Thor St. Exit rings a bell.
My daughter and her family lived off this exit -Thor St., before moving to Spokane Valley several years ago.

Thanks !

Won't eating raw burger meat make a person sick?

God bless you always!!!

Holly

No. Well maybe.

Depends on how fresh it is, was there any contamination, had there been cross contamination that would allow bacteria to grow?

Eating some amount of raw meat occasionally will not make you sick. It's that cooking the meat also kills any active germs which might be present. So mostly it's not the meat making you sick, it's the germs that are not being killed.

Steak Tartare. You just need to know where your ingredients come from and trust they've been handled correctly.

Yeah, us too. I might have a soda now and again in a mixed drink but that is about it and the other half gave up sodas some years ago--she was heavy into diet Dr. Pepper and diet Coke, but, IIRC, she became concerned with the health effects and gave them up.

I ONLY drink sodas when mixed with rum or whiskey. But, I drink a LOT of rum and whiskey.

Love mixing Cherry Coke and Vanilla coke with Captain Morgan.

And also, the new Dr Pepper flavors are GREAT with Capt Morgan, love the Cherry DP, the Coconut DP, and especially the Vanilla Float DP! Highly recommend.

That Cincinnati thing might be what's in play.
Story I've often heard was that "real"* chili was "invented" by cooks on cattle drives in the old West. The spices and peppers a way to soften and make palatable the lean beef meat of the cattle that dropped dead on the trail drive, and were a bit stringy and with no fat, not so tender.

* Purists claim that (real) Chili is only meat and seasonings. No beans! Texans especially are picky on this I've heard.

I'm from Texas and while you're correct, my mother put beans in her chili. I've never understood the whole 'no beans' thing, chili without beans is just... meat soup? I'm definitely on team #beansinchili

I drink Crown and Coke on occasion or Wild Turkey 101 and Seven-Up. Neither very often. I am more inclined to drink Zombies--makes a pitcher. One oz each of light rum, dark rum (Meyers), anejo rum, apricot flavored brandy, and lime juice, 6 oz. pineapple juice, 8 oz. OJ in a tall glass over ice with grenadine and a 151 rum float. Makes about four drinks. MMM slurp.
