Sequestration refers to the framework for automatic, across-the-board cuts to both military and non-military spending that were originally designed to force bipartisan negotiators in Congress to strike a deal in 2011. When negotiations fell apart, the cuts went into effect.

We still have the most powerful military in the world by far.

Republicans blamed President Carter for the Draw Down after Vietnam too. Even though it was Congress who mandated it.

No it didn't. Funny thing is, Congress, specifically the House, controls spending. Do you think we should have kept the troop levels as high as they were for the Iraqi invasion and occupation? How about the sequestration, what role did Congress play in that?
