Obamacare Didn't Fail — It's Working Exactly As Intended

13 Nov 2025 ~~ By Amy Curtis

I'm old enough to remember when the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) passed. It was 2010, and I had just joined Twitter the previous fall while I was on maternity leave following the birth of my second son. That means I recall exactly how Obamacare's passage unfolded.
It was forced on an unwilling American people by the Democrats, who shoved it through Congress without a single Republican vote. Many people, myself included, warned it was a bait-and-switch scheme that wouldn't lower healthcare costs but would usher in single-payer socialized medicine.
Now that we're facing another negotiation on Obamacare subsidies, it's time to remind you that Barack's signature legislation didn't fail. Nothing "went wrong" with it. It's working exactly as designed because its purpose was to crash the private insurance industry and become a political wedge issue.
That's why, for example, Democrats demanded a year-long extension on the COVID-era subsidies. For those of you without a calendar in front of you, that would have made the subsidies sunset on the eve of the midterm elections. That's not a coincidence. Democrats absolutely planned to use the subsidies as an election issue. If these subsidies are necessary, and the only thing staving off a "healthcare crisis" — as the Democrats keep telling me — why would they have a sunset date at all?
For political gain. That's why.
For now, Republicans seem to have denied them that leverage, and it should stay that way.

Republicans need to reframe the debate on Obamacare. It's not broken. It didn't "go wrong." It was designed to make private insurance unaffordable. It was meant to create the exact "healthcare crisis" we're experiencing now, so that Democrats could swoop in and promise "free" healthcare via socialized medicine.
That's the message we need to take to voters, and a Republican Congress needs to put forth a bill to repeal Obamacare in full and return free market principles to health insurance. The alternative is costly, both in cash and in lives.

Commentary:
You have to hand it to DJT. This was the Democrat way to give money to Insurance companies who would then funnel the money back to Democrats by saying he wants to give the money to citizens directly Trump has put them a box on the side of the people rather than side with insurance companies.
The insurance industry is making a large profits at the people's expense.
If you're a Home owner, own a car, or business you are required to have insurance each each.
Then the prices seem to be fixed it doesn't make a difference if you are insured by Geico, Progressive, AllState, Liberty, or Farmers.
Health/Medical Insurance is no different the names are changed, but the price fixing is the same.
Meanwhile Democrats are funded and have the power.
People used to believe that the Democrats were in the pockets of Unions, well the fingers of Democrats are everywhere. Union. Healthcare, Insurance and Big Pharma.
Is it any wonder why Democrats are fighting so hard against Trump's efforts to slow and/or stop the flow of narcotics into the U.S.?

Democrats working behind locked doors, preventing Republican access, and we were expecting a good bill?

Obama knew exactly what he was doing with the sunset of Obamacare subsidies.
It was the stepping stone to universal healthcare. Just a commie ploy.
They never really tried to say it was otherwise than a FUBAR ploy to get to single-payer either.

Pepperidge Farms Remembers.

Obama had nothing to do with the expanded subsidies, Biden did. Just going back to the regular subsidies.

I have found it funny, particularly since Covid, that the anti-Big Pharma, anti-health insurance company democrats have done everything they could do give Big Pharma and the health insurance companies as much business as possible.

I used it for a while. Had to. I was fortunate enough to retire before Medicare age but I couldn't take my Health Insurance with me. The few that can are -- Few.

But, at my age I wasn't going to risk everything my Wife and I had worked for to save some money. So we got poor. I stopped working my part time job, my Wife cut back on hers and we were poor for ACA purposes.

People who don't, or can't, get on Private Group Plans are the ones I feel sorry for -- My Dental Hygienist, my Hair Cutter, my Landscaper and hundreds of other occupations. But the Lying ********** in Chief didn't even think about, or care about, those people.

Not only did the piece of ******* SHIT put a piece of shit ACA on the Market, he went out of his way to put Private Carriers out of business. And succeeded.

I could tell you stories, like my Buddy who couldn't get on Welfare (Yes, the ACA uses Welfare money -- It's complicated) because Florida don't play that shit. He inherited a rundown, ramshackle house and that put him over the threshold to qualify for Welfare.... It's complicated. But he lost his Private Health Insurance Plan due to Lying ********** Care.

dimocraps are scum. ESPECIALLY the voters

Without subsidies, it is unaffordable for most. That would lead to its collapse
And the premiums just keep rising. It won't stay affordable even
with the expanded subsidies. More and more of our taxes will have to be allocated.
More and more out of pocket expenses. This is how the commies want to force
us into universal healthcare.

That's what bootstraps are for....Fuckin' well pull on them.

I'm fuckin' tired of subsidizing everything from healthcare, farmers, to other people's spawn.

If I got to pick and choose what to subsidize it would be the utility of abortion. Enough!
