Obama proposes tax cut - will they create jobs?

Doesn't look like any of those planned tax cuts will create a single job since most of them will probably be funded by taxing "the rich".

Tax cuts will help people already employed, but I don't see how tax cuts will help those who have been unemployed for a year or more and have no earned income to take the credits against.

Pitiful if that's the case the rich will just have to sit on those deflating dollars and watch them grow old and musty.

Some of you seem to forget that 2/3 of our economy is consumer spending. Anything the puts more money in the pockets of people who are going to spend it, will, create and save jobs at the places they spend their 'new' money.

Except that you and the administration assume that this money will get spent on anything other than paying their current bills.

Socialism only begets more Socialism. Too much Government really is a bad thing. Now they're trying desperately to micromanage and this will only lead to more economic catastrophes. First this President gives Billions in Tax Dollars to the "Evil Corporations" and now he's out there railing against these same "Evil Corporations." Just another Government shell-game. Unfortunately many sheep will buy into these scams. It really is sad.

Completely agree. I guess they'll keep pumping blood into the corpse and the sheep will keep baaing.

This President really should just put his giant ego aside and stop trying to micromanage our economy. Hasn't he done enough damage already? December home sales were down 17%. That's the largest drop in 40yrs. More Government intervention is not the answer. This President needs to step back and this Congress needs to do everyone a big favor and go away on recess. The less they meet, the less damage they can do to our country. Our Congress should meet only a couple of times a year. They're just is session too much at this point. Socialism/Communism is not the answer. I've been saying this all along even going back to George Bush. We need real change and new leaders. Lets hope this happens before it's too late.

You mean the way it worked when he did it early on in his presidency?
Or how it worked when Bush did it?

You MUST cut the operating expenses to those that create jobs to allow more money to pay for the new employees.

And cutting corporate taxes will do this.

Tax Cuts can not save this Economy. It's just far too late for that. Less Government intervention in our Economy is the only answer. They themselves have created all of the economic catastrophes they are now trying to fix. Seems pretty bizarre no? I suspect they will now only create more economic catastrophes that they will again have to try and fix at some point. Why don't more people understand this? Put your ego aside Mr. President and stop meddling. The Socialists really are moving us rapidly towards Economic Armageddon.

Maybe the sheep are supposed to be baaing.

I met a very rich man once on an outing with my son at Lake Tahoe. I lad went into town from the campground to get a hot cup of coffee and use the telephone for a business call. As I stood there at the payphone waiting for this conference call to take place this older man came from across the street and asked me if I would let him buy me a cup of coffee and chat after I got off of the phone. It seemed somewhat odd but then a lot of things do at times. I told him I was going to the restaurant as soon as I was finished with the phone call to get a cup of coffee. He said I'll be over there waiting. I finished the call and went over to the restaurant. I ordered a cup of coffee and the older gentleman told the waitress, I'm getting that. He asked if I would have a seat for a little bit and let him talk to me. He started talking about the economy and he was telling me about all the property he owned in the Bay area. The waitress chimed in and said ya you old fart you must own half the town by now. He told me he wanted me tell them he wouldn't be spending his hard earned money on investments just to have it taxed again. I told him I really do not know anyone that makes those types of decisions, sorry.

As all this talk of taxes and such goes on I think of that morning from time to time. If he valued his money so much maybe he should have saved it all for his coffin liner. That away he could take it with him.

The next two paragraphs are excerpted from the article. Just these two proposals show that Obama lacks understanding of how to fix this economy.

The initiatives also focus on savings, requiring employers that don't offer work-based retirement plans to enroll their employees in a direct deposit retirement account, unless the employee opts out. The cost to employers would be offset by new tax credits, and the administration says the smallest firms would be exempt.

Obama will also call for caps on some student loans, limiting a borrower's payments to 10 percent of his or her income, and forgiving all remaining debt after 10 years of payment for those in public service work _ and 20 years for all others.

Thanks I was going to post about that.

Obama can't do anything without creating new employer mandates.

And let's not forget that he plans create disparity between student loans. Somehow he seems to think that the federal government should be the arbiter of which job is more worthy as well as telling those that made loans in good faith that they are screwed. Shades of Nebraska.

So once again Obama is saying that the people are irresponsible and need to have things set up for them to be responsible.

People are too irresponsible to read a credit card contract before signing. so now it is the responsibility of the credit card company.

People were too irresponsible to report their accurate incomes on the NINJA loan apps, so now the banks need to cover for them.

People are too irresponsible to save on their own, so the employers need to set it up for them.

Whatever happened to personal responsibility?

December Home sales down 17%. The largest monthly drop in 40yrs. All that Tax Payer cash given to the corrupt Corporate Bankers and this is what we have to show for it. Yikes! :(
